Top-Level Chinese Communist Party Official Authors Chilling New Book on Jiang Zemin

Part of Jiang's Inner Circle, Author Gives Harrowing Account of the "How" and "Why" Regarding Jiang's Decision to "Eradicate" Falun Gong

LONDON, June 13, 2002 (European Falun Gong Information Centre) - Described by its publisher as a "daring and timely work written by a top level Chinese Communist Party official in President Jiang Zemin's inner circle," the book "Poisonous Deceit," released on June 6, provides an inside look at Jiang Zemin s decision to launch the persecution campaign against Falun Gong as well as tells the story of how Jiang has carried out this persecution for the last three years.

"While we cannot verify the identify of the author," commented Peter Jauhal, spokesperson for the Falun Gong Information Centre, "this book does present a wealth of information that we know to be true from our own sources. It also corroborates reports that have been issued by Amnesty International, the Hong Kong Information Center for Human Rights and Democracy and other human rights organizations."

Mr. Jauhal continued, "Given what we do know about the persecution of Falun Gong in China, the author of this book appears to have access to privileged information."

The 88-page book is a piece by piece dissection of the treatment of Falun Gong at the hands of Jiang Zemin, covering a range of topics from the actual situation in forced labour camps to the widespread use of state-run media to frame-up and demonize Falun Gong in the eyes of the public.

Amidst the information revealed by the author is that the actual death count of Falun Gong practitioners in China is well over 7,000 -- as opposed to the 1,600 figure frequently reported by the Falun Dafa Information Centre.

The author also claims to have vast amounts of evidence regarding the persecution of Falun Gong:

We have a well-established network of handpicked spies working for us from within the confines of the Chinese prisons themselves. They get to see Jiang’s brand of terrorism up close and personal. ... we have taken pictures of many of the various torture devices used on Practitioners, as well as their lifeless battered bodies covered in wounds lying on the floors of their cells... we have recordings of private meetings among the guards in which they discuss the strategy of how to deal with the tortured victim’s death, and what “story” they will all agree to give the family when they report this death... When the time is right, this evidence will be made known to the public - hopefully before the 2008 Olympics.

The book is free to download from the publisher’s website at: http://www.deep6-publishing.org/

According to the website, the Chinese language version of "Poisonous Deceit" will be available within the next few weeks.

Background

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a practice of meditation and exercises with teachings based on the universal principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." It is a practice that was taught in private for thousands of years before being made public in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi. Falun Gong has roots in traditional Chinese culture, but it is distinct and separate from other practices such as the religions of Buddhism and Taoism. Since its introduction in 1992, it quickly spread by word of mouth throughout China, and is now practiced in over 50 countries.

With government estimates of as many as 100 million practicing Falun Gong, China's President Jiang Zemin outlawed the peaceful practice in July 1999, fearful of anything touching the hearts and minds of more citizens than the Communist Party. Unable to crush the spirit of millions who had experienced improved health and positive life changes from Falun Gong, Jiang's regime has intensified its propaganda campaign to turn public opinion against the practice while quietly imprisoning, torturing and even murdering those who practice it.

The Falun Gong Information Centre has verified details of over 422 deaths since the persecution of Falun Gong in China began in 1999. Government officials inside China, however, report that the actual death toll is well over 1,600. Over 100,000 have been detained, with more than 20,000 being sentenced to forced labour camps without trial.
