Ms. Huang Guifen from Rongcheng, Shandong Province was arrested in May 2007. Later she was sent to Shandong Province No. 2 Forced Labour Camp and tortured brutally there.

When Ms. Huang Guifeng was with her daughter-in-law on May 10th, 2007, five or six male police officers broke in and unlawfully arrested her, taking her to the Qingyutan Police Station in Xunshan Town, Rongcheng. The police arrested the daughter-in-law as well and ransacked the house.

Afterwards, the police threatened the family saying that if they were not given money, the family would not be able to visit Ms. Huang. The first time, the family was extorted out of 800 yuan1. The police said that amount was for her detention. The second time, the police extorted 400 yuan from the family and said it was for the forced labour camp. Ms. Huang was sent to the forced labour camp 21 days later.

At the Shandong Province No. 2 Forced Labour Camp, Ms. Huang was detained at the Fourth Division. Guards, including Yang Jinhong, Wu Xiuli, Sun Hua, Wang Huiying, Sun Haiying, and Li Furong, attempted to coerce Ms. Huang to give up her belief. They also instigated three people who went astray, Qu Shumin, Zhao Jin, and Gao Wenshu, to monitor and persecute Ms. Huang. Ms. Huang was deprived of sleep. She was not allowed to brush her teeth or to shower. They forced her to sit on a little bench for a long time. The guards also instigated Wang Meixia, who helps the police to persecute practitioners, to watch Ms. Huang. Wang Meixia did not allow Ms. Huang to speak. She even watched Ms. Huang when she used the toilet. In the meantime, the perpetrators kept playing the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) recordings and videos that slander Falun Gong.

Guards force practitioners, including Ms. Huang, to work every day for 13 hours. Such extended periods of labour cause practitioners to suffer physically. Eventually, Ms. Huang could not straighten out her right thumb. It was diagnosed by the camp's doctors as being severely strained. They notified the guards to change the task for Ms. Huang, but the guards still forced her to keep doing what she was doing before.

When Ms. Huang's term was up, because she refused to be "transformed2" and write the so-called "weekly statement," the guards did not immediately release her, but kept her in the camp for several more days.

Due to the huge mental pressure caused by anxiety over his daughter, Ms. Huang's father passed away in July 2008. Before he died, he kept calling her name.

Note

1. "Yuan" is the Chinese currency; 500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China.

2. "Reform or Transform" Implementation of brainwashing and torture in order to force a practitioner to renounce Falun Gong. (Variations: "reform", "transform", "reformed", "reforming", "transformed", "transforming", and "transformation")
