In June of 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Fengzhen was arrested by Li Fuguo and Wang Min from the National Security Team of the Public Security Bureau in Tanghai County, Hebei Province. She was then sent to Tangshan Ankang Hospital where she received forced injections of unknown medicine. After Ms. Li was disabled by the persecution, she was sent back to her family.

Ms. Li Fengzhen is in her 50's. Since 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong, she has been arrested and persecuted many times by agents from the Tanghai County Public Security Bureau.

On October 13th, 2001, Li Fengzhen was arrested and mistreated at the Tanghai County Detention Centre because she refused to renounce Falun Gong. On January 15th, 2002, she wrote to her classmates in her hometown and told them about the truth of the persecution. She was then arrested at her home by policemen from the Qianxi Public Security Bureau. She was detained for 5 days and was not released until the police extorted 5,000 yuan1 from her.

At around 5:00 p.m. on June 10th, 2008, around 8 policemen, including Li Fuguo and Wang Min from the Tanghai County National Security Team, broke into Li Fengzhen's house. At the time, she was at home alone. They used force against Ms. Li and carried her to their police car. Then, they broke all the locks on her closets and drawers, stole numerous items and left the home unlocked when they left.

On June 25th, Li Fuguo called Li Fengzhen's family. He said that they were going to send her to Tangshan Ankang Hospital and that her family should pay for all of the costs. As the family refused to pay this extortion, the police directly talked to an agent at the post office where her husband works. They deceived the managers and coerced the post office to give them 4,000 yuan. They then sent Li Fengzhen to the Tangshan Ankang Hospital (this hospital is controlled by the Tangshan Public Security Bureau to persecute Falun Gong practitioners). In the hospital, Li Fengzhen was forced to receive injections of unknown drugs. In only two months, the once healthy and rational Li Fengzhen basically lost her memory. She became mentally unstable and extremely skinny. She could not see clearly, nor could she stand upright and walk. She had pain in the left side of her chest, and she was unable to take care of herself.

In mid-August 2008, the deputy chief of the Tanghai Public Security Bureau , Zhang Shui, along with Li Fuguo and Wang Min from the National Security Team transferred Li Fengzhen from the Tangshan Ankang Hospital to the Tanghai County Hospital. After forcing her family to sign the paperwork, they left Li Fengzhen to her family. A year has passed and Ms. Li has remained both mentally and physically debilitated. Zhang Shun, Li Fuguo and Wang Min, and others have not paid any compensation to Ms. Li; on the contrary, they have said that Li Fengzhen was released on bail, and that they intend to arrest her again. They have gone to her husband's workplace and her home to disturb and threaten her family again.

Before she became a Falun Gong practitioner, Li Fengzhen had problems with her cervical vertebrae and haemorrhoids. After she started practising cultivation, all of her heath problems disappeared and her personality also changed for the better. She became very considerate of others in doing things and she carefully took care of her paralysed mother-in-law for three years.

Li Fengzhen's eldest brother Li Enying, also a practitioner, was arrested by police from the Tangshan Security Bureau in Fengrun County on January 19th, 2007 and imprisoned in the Shijiazhuang Labour Camp. The labour camp tortured him for 6 months and refused to release him for medical treatment until he was on the verge of death. He passed away just 13 days after he was released.

The case of Li Fengzhen is only one of many cases where Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted to death, disabled, and severely injured in Tanghai County. From June 2008 to July 2009, within the period of one year, 19 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested and imprisoned in Tanghai County. Currently, 14 practitioners are still persecuted in prisons and labour camps. Among them, eight are imprisoned in the Shijiazhuang Women's Prison including Ms. Xu Na (in her 50's), Ms. Li Xiaoling (in her 60's), Ms. Zhao Yufang (around 50 years old), Ms. Yang Shuzhi (in her 40's), Ms. Qin Pengzhen (in her 60's), Ms. Sun Cuiqing (around 60 years old), Ms. Dong Ruifen (in her 60's), and Ms. Zhang Jinping (in her 50's). Three are imprisoned in Kaiping Labour Camp: Ms. Chi Yanlan, Ms. Hou Fang (in her 40's), and Ms. Ning Dandan (age 25). One is imprisoned in Shijiazhuang Labour Camp: Mr. Zheng Chunshan; two are imprisoned in the Tangshan Hehuakeng Labour camp: Mr. Liu Lianhao (age 47) and Mr. Huo Yinxian (around 50 years old).
