Ms. Guo Chuanshu, 62 and retired, was from Chongqing. She was transferred to the Chongqing City Women's Prison on November 14th, 2008, and died there on August 9th, 2009. She was arrested 6 times, twice sent to a forced labour camp, and twice sentenced to prison. She was once paralysed due to the torture she suffered in the Chongqing City Women's Prison.

Ms. Guo understood how wonderful Falun Gong is, and she went to Beijing to appeal in 1999. She was arrested and detained and sent to a forced labour camp in the summer of 2000. She was bailed out on a medical parole in September 2001. In March 2002, she was arrested and detained for 15 days. The Jiangjin District Court sentenced her to three years in prison in May 2002. While she was in the Jiangjin District Detention Centre before going to prison, the guards tortured her with half-sitting for a long time and handcuffing her behind her back. The centre director, Feng Haoliang, put several dozen pounds of heavy shackles on her ankles. It was a hot summer, but prison personnel wouldn't let her wash or sleep, and the guards slapped her. She was later taken to the Chongqing City Women's Prison, where she became paralysed as a result of brutal mistreatment. She was bailed out on a medical parole in the summer of 2004.

Ms. Guo was once again arrested, detained, and sentenced to forced labour in 2006. She was bailed out on a medical parole on February 17th, 2007.

She clarified the truth to the Baisha Town police officers on May 10, 2007. She was arrested and detained in Jiangjin District Detention Center.

On May 24th, 2008, Ms. Guo went to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Degan Town and was arrested and detained in the Langshan Town Detention Centre. She was later sentenced to four years in prison. She was transferred to the Sixth Ward of the Chongqing City Women's Prison on November 14th, 2008, but died there on August 9th, 2009.

Chongqing Women's Prison has recently moved from the Yongchuan District to an area near Degan Town and Shuangfu Town.
