Representatives of the local Falun Dafa Association visited the South Korean Consulate in Houston this week in response to the recent secretive deportation of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu from South Korea to China. The deportation happened after a Chinese Communist Party official's visit to South Korea.

Mr. Song, representing the Southern USA Falun Dafa Association, met with consular officials and submitted a formal letter about Mr. Wu and 31 other Falun Gong practitioners who have had their applications for political asylum rejected.

The key points addressed in the letter:

  1. Falun Gong cultivation practice follows Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance and has received recognition from governments around the world.
  2. Introduction to the evil nature of the CCP and the persecution of Falun Gong since July 20th, 1999.
  3. Because of the brutal persecution, many Falun Gong practitioners' lives are in danger. They were forced to leave their homes and seek freedom and safety in South Korea.
  4. Southern USA Falun Dafa Association requests humanitarian help from the South Korean government to provide refugee status to the 31 Falun Gong practitioners restrained in South Korea.

Consulate officials carefully listened to Mr. Song's explanations and request for help.

Background:

Mr. Wu entered South Korea as a student in May, 2002. He learned about Falun Gong and began to practise. Because of the persecution in China, he couldn't return to his home in China, and stayed in Korea. He applied for political asylum but was secretively deported to China on July 1st, 2009. There is no news from Mr. Wu since his forced repatriation.

Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CCP's Politburo visited Korea not long ago. Information from a Korean media employee, who prefers not to be identified, indicated that Li had requested South Korea to deport Falun Gong practitioners immediately. Although the Supreme Court acknowledged the existence of the persecution, the Ministry of Justice took a series of actions as soon as Li left Korea. It rejected 32 Falun Gong practitioners' application for asylum and announced that the rejected applicants would be deported.

On July 2nd, the Korea Falun Dafa Association held a press conference in front of Gwacheon Government Complex in Seoul and condemned the deportation of Mr Wu by the Ministry of Justice.
