Li Yuanrong Persecuted in Wumaping Prison of Leshan City, Passes Away

In early 2006, 11 Falun Gong practitioners from Chongqing City and Yibin City of Sichuan Province and Yunnan Province were arrested while they were practising Falun Gong together in Louba Town, Yibin County. Five of them were entenced after being detained in Yibin County Detention Centre for 9 months. Li Yuanrong was sentenced to five years in prison. On March 9th, they were transferred to Wumaping Prison of Leshan City, Sichuan Province for further persecution.

In Wumaping Prison, these old Falun Gong practitioners were forced to stand or sit cross-legged for a long time. They stayed outside every day and were not allowed to sit on a chair. The weather is constantly changing at Wumaping Mountain. Therefore, they were seriously abused physically. Guard Gao Hu interrogated and harassed each Falun Gong practitioner, such that Li Yuanrong's blood pressure elevated and his health condition deteriorated rapidly. In order to obtain their signatures, Gao Hu told them that they could sit on a chair if they signed guarantee letters to renounce Falun Gong.

Under the long-term harassment, Li Yuanrong collapsed in July 2007. He passed away after several days.
