In 1999, Ms. Xiong Aichun, 65, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Half way there, she was arrested by police. She was detained in the 27 North Road Detention Centre in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. Later on, she was released because of poor health. Returning home, she was under a great deal of stress, which caused mental instability and blindness. In May 2007, she passed away as a result of persecution.

Mr. Liu Leiwan worked at the Jiangxi Paper Mill. On February 6th, 2003 police arrested him because he practised Falun Gong. A court sentenced him to six years in prison. During his detention in Nanchang Prison he was tortured in many ways and had to work many hours, resulting in blood in his urine every day. He became very weak. On the afternoon of February 6th, 2008, his family was told to take him home. He died two months later. After his death, the 610 Office1 threatened his family, so they would not allow Falun Gong practitioners to pay their final respects at his home.

Mr. Ren Xiaofang lived in Yinjia Lane. He was an accountant of Gongyuan Village, Tangshan Township, Nanchang City. He was at the final stage of cancer; however, the disease disappeared after he practised Falun Gong. This amazed everyone in the village. After July 20th, 1999, the party secretary and governor of Tangshan Township, as well as police, searched his home and confiscated Falun Gong exercise music tapes and all his Falun Gong books. They also threatened him with arrest if he practised. Mr. Ren was scared and stopped practising Falun Gong. In August 2000, he passed away after suffering a relapse of his former illness.

Note

1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
