Ms. Zhao Huaichun's husband is 65 years old, is in poor health, and needs someone to take care of him. Their daughter is mentally challenged as a result of cerebritis she had while she was young, and cannot take care of herself either. She is over 30 years old, but cannot change her clothes or take a shower by herself, and does not know how to deal with menstruation. She has been entirely dependent on her mother. Now that Ms. Zhao has been arrested, her husband is unable to take care of their daughter and she is in a very difficult situation.

Ms. Zhao has been cultivating in Falun Gong for over ten years. She had a heart condition and arthritis before, but recovered after she began to cultivate in Falun Gong. She felt that Falun Gong was just so wonderful and she always wanted to tell more people about it.

She was arrested in 2001 when she was distributing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution, and was sentenced to serve a year in a forced labour camp, where she went on hunger strikes to protest the persecution.

At around 8:00 p.m. on June 11th, 2008, right before the Olympics, a few plain clothes police officers broke into her house, ransacked it, and arrested her for a second time. She has been rendered totally blind and unable to walk because of the persecution she suffered the last eight months in Haiding Prison.

We strongly urge the international community, human rights organizations such as Amnesty International, and all people in the world to lend their support, and help to stop the persecution of good people by the Chinese Communist Party. We demand the immediate release of Ms. Zhao Huaichun.
