Ms. Liu Shanzhen is a 48-year old woman who lives in Qushui Village of Tumen City, Jilin Province. Her right arm and both legs are disabled. On December 14th, 2008, Domestic Security Division agents from the police department arrested her simply because of her faith in the principles of Falun Gong, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Right now, Ms. Liu is being held in the Anshan Detention Centre. Police also broke her already disabled legs. Here we are calling for rescue of Ms. Liu Shanzhen.

Under the direction of Lu Wenzhe and Wang Yuansheng, several policemen took turns beating and torturing Ms. Liu. After they broke her bones, police did not immediately send her to the hospital but hid her somewhere for seven or eight days in order not to draw attention. When sending Ms. Liu to hospital later, the police lied, saying Mrs. Liu broke her bones when she jumped out of a building in the process of running away. The police did deplorable things, threatening her family not to appeal, and forcing them to pay the medical expenses.

Police also ransacked Ms. Liu's personal belongings. In addition, they detained her husband and interrogated him. He could not keep a clear mind under the mental stress and could not even take care of himself. The couple also has a daughter who needs money to go to school.

Ms. Liu has been disabled since she was very young. She also had other illnesses. Eventually she overheard that Falun Gong had miraculous effects of curing illnesses and began to learn it. Soon afterwards, her health significantly improved. Her headaches, back pain as well as gynaecological illness disappeared, saving large amounts of medical expenses and benefiting the family.
