Ms. Dai Qiongxian, 61, lives in the Chuanfang Community in Kunming City, Yunnan Province. She is retired from the Yunnan Province Power Company. On August 26th, 2008, she went to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Hengxing Park near Xiyuan Street, but she was reported and taken into custody at the Xishan District Detention Centre. At around 10:45 p.m. on the same day, five officers ransacked her home until 1:30 a.m., taking her books and other materials.

Ms. Dai's husband, Mr. Tang Luosong, is in poor health. Worrying about his wife, he suffers high blood pressure, and has difficulty sleeping. He can't help but cry whenever he mentions his wife, "My wife is a good person. People cultivate Falun Gong to be better people. There is nothing wrong with having good health!"

It has been six months since Ms. Dai was initially detained. Her family has tried to visit her many times, but the detention centre has refused them. This is her second detention. The first time, she had gone to Beijing to appeal on October 10th, 2000, and the police arrested her and sent her to 18 months of forced labour.
