Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Litian died from being beaten by police officers at Jinzhou Prison. His family members went to Liaoning Province Procuratorate of Shengyang City on the morning of December 23rd, 2008. The guards stopped them when they entered the front door of the procuratorate. Mr. Zhang's family explained why they had come, but the guard said that they could not see the family and that they should go to the Appeals Office at the Liaoning Procuratorate.

Mr. Zhang's family members then went about two miles to the Appeals Office. The family told the receptionist that they wanted a forensic doctor from another province to conduct a new autopsy. However, the official said, "Your request is too extreme. We can't entertain your claim. Go back to Jinzhou. Go!" Then he shouted, "Next person." Mr. Zhang's family members had to leave Shenyang disappointed.

The Procuratorates from Chengjiao District, Jinzhou City and Liaoning Province unreasonably denied Mr. Zhang Litian's family members their petition for a new autopsy. Liu Fei, the official at the Chengjiao District Procuratorate, and Gong Peihe, the official of the Jinzhou City Procuratorate, were especially harsh. Official Li Shicheng from the Jinzhou City Procuratorate said to the family members, "It's important to you, but it's no big deal for us." In regards to the family's autopsy petition, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials and murderers cooperated with each other, suppressed the truth, cheated people, and obstructed the efforts by the family to find the truth. Thus, Mr. Zhang Litian's remains are currently in Cheng Jun and Zhang Baozhi's control.

Mr. Zhang Litian is from Laizhou City, Shandong Province. He was an employee of the Steel Works in Zhaoyang City, Liaoning Province. After he began practising Falun Gong, he followed the teachings of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and strove to be a good person. Since the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong, Mr. Zhang Litian was harassed and persecuted many times. In April 2008, he was arrested by Jinzhou City Public Security Bureau and police officers from Shandong, and taken to Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. He was then imprisoned in the First Detention Centre. He was sentenced to a five year prison term in August 2008, then he was persecuted in the No. 20 Ward of Jinzhou Prison in October. On November 17th, Mr. Zhang died after being brutally beaten by Cheng Jun, head of the No. 20 Ward, and Deputy Zhang Bozhi. Mr. Zhang Litian's 70-year-old father is suffering from illnesses and his 9-year-old daughter is a student. They have no one to take care of them.

We appeal to organizations and people of conscience for help with this case.
