60-year old countrywoman Lu Shu'e from Luancheng County, Hebei Province, was sentenced to four years in prison for her insistence on practising Falun Gong. She has been held in Hebei Province Women's Jail since January 4th, 2009. This is the second time Ms. Lu has been imprisoned.

Before practising Falun Gong, Ms. Lu had many health problems. Diseases such as rheumatism were such a torture to her that she almost wished she were dead. In the summertime, she had to wear thick clothing, and it was even too hard to walk. She had been treated by both Chinese and Western medicine, but nothing worked. After she began practising Falun Gong, all the diseases in her body quickly disappeared. She became a completely healthy person.

After the persecution began in 1999, Ms. Lu insisted on continuing cultivation. In 2001, she was sentenced to four years in prison and was released in 2005.

On July 31st, 2008, Ms. Lu was reported for telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was arrested soon after by Qiandazhang Police Station in Zhao County, and was held in the Zhao County Detention Centre. The Zhao County Court sentenced her to four years in prison.

Ms. Lu and her family appealed the county court's decision to the city court, but the city court upheld the ruling. Ms. Lu protested the persecution with a hunger strike for more than half of a month. She is extremely weak right now and very thin. She was transferred to Hebei Women's Jail on January 4th, 2009.
