On the morning of August 6th, 2008, practitioners Mr. Liu Yizhi and Ms. Bai Hongzhen were tried in the Xunyang District Court in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials. When their family members arrived at the court hearing, they were searched. The trial lasted less than an hour, and the families heard no news of a verdict until November 1st. Mr. Liu phoned home to inform his family that he had been secretly sentenced to two years in prison. Ms. Bai was sentenced to five years. On October 21st, they were transferred to Hongdu Prison in Xinjian County.

After the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, Mr. Liu Yizhi and Ms. Bai Hongzhen were arrested. Ms. Bai was tortured in a mental institution. At around 9:00 p.m. on the April 28th, 2008, Li Ming, head of the National Security Team from Xunyang Police Station in Jiujiang City, went to Bai Hongzhen's home accompanied by Kong Jiang. Four police officers beat Ms. Bai to the ground with a thick rope. They arrested her and tied her legs and arms together. They also arrested Mr. Liu, who was visiting Ms. Bai at that time. Wang Yonggen, the head security officer of the No. 2 Construction Company, and Ma Daorong were involved in these abusive arrests.

Liu Yizhi's mother is over 80 years old, and his son was planning to study at the university. They are both in need of financial support. Mr. Liu was arrested again on April 28th, 2008. His family now must rely on his wife's small business as their sole source of income.

Ms. Huang Jinrong, 46, is from Dawangmiao Village, Jinjipo, Xunyang District of Jiujiang City. She has been sentenced to two years of forced labour. Since beginning Falun Gong practice, she has become healthier both mentally and physically. However, Ms. Huang has been arrested several times and sent to forced labour camps just because she wants to be a good person through studying Falun Gong. Back in August 2001, she was sentenced to forced labour. Her mother-in-law went to the police station to request her release. She was bitten by a dog and fell, fracturing a bone in one of her hands. Ms. Huang's mother was extremely worried about her daughter and soon became ill. She passed away not long afterwards. When Ms. Huang was detained in Majialong Forced Labour Camp, she was forced to take unknown drugs and suffered a mental collapse. After she returned home, it took a long time for her to regain her health.
