During this year's Spring Festival (the Chinese New Year 2002), Wang Jiuchun, an associate professor at the prestigious Qinghua University in Beijing, was staying at her relative's home when her work unit called and lied to her, saying they wanted her to come back to work. Wang Jiuchun went to her home. But at noontime on the Chinese New Year's Eve, a gang of people who claimed to be policemen (they were not in uniform, nor did they show any identification) suddenly forced their way into professor Wang's home and surrounded her house for over an hour while she was washing her clothes.

At last, the plain clothed policemen broke into her house, searching it and confiscating many of her things, including [Falun] Dafa materials, her computer, and a printer. Under the vicious policemen's threats, Wang Jiuchun was taken from home clad only in her underwear. She couldn't even take an overcoat with her.

It was said that the plain clothed policemen were from the 14th Division of the Public Security Bureau. Professor Wang's attitude was very firm and she didn't yield to the evil. She was illegally sentenced to a year and a half of forced labour education starting on March 26 at the notorious Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp in Beijing.

In another incident: Hao Jiafeng, an associate professor at Beijing University and an assistant of a former Falun Gong assistance site at Beijing University [(In Falun Gong an assistant is a practitioner who shows new practitioners how to do the exercises)], has been illegally detained in the Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp for the past year. Professor Hao was illegally arrested when she went to the Beijing Appeals Office in March 2000 to clarify the truth of Falun Gong. She was first detained in the 7th Division of the Beijing City Public Security Bureau. Then, they moved her several times before she was finally illegally detained in the Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp.

Who would have thought that in such prestigious academic establishments such as the Qinghua and Beijing Universities, professors would be arrested and sent to forced labour camps only for their belief in "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance."
