Note: The following is a shortened version of a longer and more detailed article that appeared on the Minghui.org website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Lanping, 57, a retired worker from the Hefei Commercial Machine Plant in Hefei, Anhui Province, was arrested by agents from the 610 Office1 because she exposed the persecution of Falun Gong to people in May 2008. She was imprisoned in Hefei Forced Labour Camp, and 15 days later transferred to the Anhui Provincial Women's Forced Labour Camp. She is now on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.

Additionally, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Meixiu, in her sixties, and a retired worker from the Hefei Auto Parts Plant, was arrested by local police before the Beijing Olympic Games, and was sent to the Anhui Provincial Women's Forced Labour Camp. The police tortured her with "restraint clothes" so severely that she became humpbacked and cannot straighten her back.

Note

1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
