Yan Yong is the team leader of the National Security Team in Wugong County, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, and He Hui is the director of the 610 Office1. Yan and He led over a dozen policemen from the Puji Town Police Station to arrest Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Cao Junyi (in his seventies) and Ms. Yan Renyan (in her sixties) from the Yilao Village, Puji Town on May 14th, 2008, and ransack their homes. Police injected Mr. Cao Junyi with unidentified drugs, causing him to lose his memory.

Before Mr. Cao practised Falun Gong, he had had a variety of diseases. After he began practising, Mr. Cao became healthy in both body and mind, and his family lived in harmony. Since the persecution began in 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials have incessantly harassed Mr. Cao.

On May 14th, 2008, Mr. Cao was arrested and taken to the detention centre in Wugong County. The police ordered criminals to torture him physically and psychologically. They tried to force him to give up Falun Gong. The persecutors administered unidentified drugs to Mr. Cao, which caused him to become weak and gradually lose his memory. Mr. Cao can no longer take care of himself and doesn't recognize his family members. The police extorted about 10,000 yuan2 from Mr. Cao's family before releasing him in October.

Ms. Yan Renyan and her family members, who do not practise Falun Gong, were subjected to persecution by the CCP again and again. They endured many mental, physical, and financial agonies. Before Ms. Yan started practising Falun Gong, she, too, had had many diseases. She took medicines and had injections all the time. Shortly after beginning Falun Gong practice in 1997, all of Ms. Yan's illnesses disappeared. Her whole body changed greatly. Her white hair turned black, she had fewer wrinkles, and her mood improved significantly.

After the persecution of Falun Gong began, Ms. Yan went to Beijing to appeal in 2001, for which she was detained for thirty days. Authorities fined her family over 3000 yuan. In late 2007, authorities detained Ms. Yan for a day, and again extorted her family of another 3000 yuan before releasing her.

On May 14th, 2008, Ms. Yan Renyan was forcibly taken to Wugong County Detention Centre where she was subjected to severe physical and psychological tortures, causing her to become very weak. Ms. Yan was detained for five months in this condition. After extorting another 3000 yuan from her family members, the authorities released Ms. Yan.
