Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Kaibi from Cangxi County, Guangyuan, Sichuan Province, was arrested by local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel. In January 2007, she was sent to Nanmusi Forced Labour Camp in Zizhong to be "re-educated" through forced labour. While in this camp she was tortured until she suffered symptoms of brain damage. Currently, she suffers vertigo, her eyes feel distended and her memory is very poor.

In December 2006, Ms. Wang was falsely accused by several people including Liu Zhaoping, the secretary of Jiankou Village, Longwang Town, Changxi County, Liu Zhaocai, the head of Jiankou Village, Hou Wengang, another head of the village and Hou Wenzhen. Later on, Wu Qiang from the Town Armed Forces Department led more than 10 people including Zhao Yun from Longwang Police Station and County Police Station, Hou Xiangyu and Dong Dexian from the county 610 Office1, and people from the County National Security Team to confiscate Ms. Wang's home and take her to the Jiuquxi Hotel and imprisoned her for about a week.

During this period of imprisonment, the CCP personnel did not allow Ms. Wang to sleep, beat her in the head, kicked her with heavy shoes and trampled on her legs. There were 7 to 8 people who took turns torturing Ms. Wang. Zhao Yun, Hou Xiangyu, Dong Dexian and other people all beat her. They also tore up a picture of the founder of Falun Gong and tried to force her to eat it. They put a Falun Gong on the ground and tried to get her to step on or sit on it. Ms. Wang firmly resisted this abuse.

Ms. Wang was transferred to the Changxi County Detention Centre where she was continuously persecuted. At the prison the rice that was served at mealtime had turned yellow and was inedible. She was only given rice soup and a few broken noodles, so she was hungry every day. Against her will, she was forced to wear the prisoner's uniform. She was charged 50 yuan2 every month for "living expenses." The people from the local CCP and 610 Office sent Ms. Wang to the forced labour camp for one year. She was imprisoned at Nanmusi Forced Labour Camp in Zizhong. The guards used all their strength to beat her head and tore out a lot of her hair, and eventually she developed symptoms of brain damage.

Guards in the forced labour camp first sent Ms. Wang to the No. 7 Team. Guard Duan Yuanyuan beat her face and mouth. Guard Jiang Nan once kicked her feet and forced her to do military drills. During this period, Ms. Wang became very thin and her mind became unclear. Then she was transferred to the No. 4 Team. Guard Fang Xiaoqing incited many criminals to beat her. They dragged her on the ground and beat her eyes. She was dragged into the toilet and beaten during the evenings. Her clothes were removed and they poured very hot and then cold water on her. They also used the following methods to torture Ms. Wang: Two people held each of her hands and another person kicked her chest and abdomen. The pain made her almost pass out. Li Jinxing and Wang Liping used clothes hangers to pull at her mouth, which caused it to bleed. They also tore out a lot of her hair, punched her and kicked her legs.

Because Ms. Wang Kaibi suffered from all sorts of inhumane torture, her mental state became worse and worse. Despite her poor condition, she was still tortured repeatedly. When Ms. Wang was finally released for medical treatment, she stayed in the hospital for more than 40 days and had difficulty eating.

Note

1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

2. "Yuan" is the Chinese currency; 500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China.
