Before and during the Beijing Olympics, many practitioners, retired employees and family members from the Hongxing Airplane Manufacturing Company in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province were arrested, detained and taken to forced labour camps.

On the morning of July 8th, 2008, retired test pilot Mr. Liu Rongfa and Ms. Yin Yanxin, husband and wife, along with former employees of the Hongxing Airplane Manufacturing Company went out to take care of a personal matter. Police officers from the Shigang Street Police Station arrested them and ransacked their home. They were first detained at the Shijiazhuang Administrative Detention Centre and then, after more than ten days, Liu Rongfa was taken to a forced labour camp. He was tortured and subjected to physical and mental harm. His blood pressure shot up, and the forced labour camp staff notified his family and told them to post bail for medical treatment. Nonetheless, all relevant departments responsible for his case ignored his need for medical treatment. There were many delays during the approval process for the request and they have yet to release him. Yin Yanxin was transferred to the Shijiazhuang City Women's Prison and denied family visitation. Her situation is unknown.

Mr. Liu Rongfa is in his sixties. Since the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, because of his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, he was off the test pilot flying schedule over and over again. His home was ransacked often and he has been arrested and detained many times. On festivals and holidays, he is harassed and monitored by staff from the local company office, police officers and staff from the residents committee. Mr. Liu's wife Yin Yanxin is also in her sixties. She used to be very sick and was dependent on medication. However after she began practising Falun Gong, her diseases completely disappeared and she glowed with health. After the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, Ms. Yin went to Beijing to appeal twice. She trusted that her government would listen and rectify the situation. Instead, she was put in handcuffs and detained. During her two times in prison her old illnesses recurred.

In early August, Ms. Li Na, a young practitioner who lives in the family dormitory of the Hongxing Airplane Manufacturing Company, was taken to the city brainwashing centre by staff from her workplace, and was detained for close to two months. Ms. Li was then taken to a forced labour camp, because of her belief, where she was subjected to physical and mental torture.

On the night of August 5th, police from the Shigang Street Police Station arrested Ms. Men Xiushu, who is close to 70 years old. She was threatened and detained for over a month.

Two retired ladies, Li and Xiao Liu, were also harassed. One went to another city to visit relatives and the other looked after her pregnant daughter-in-law. They were reported by the building supervisors. The police came to their homes many times and harassed and threatened their families.

Middle-aged Ms. Zhang guarded the gate of the family dormitory after her retirement. The area police ordered her to monitor practitioner Liu Rongfa and his family, and they demanded that she not rent rooms to practitioners, but she refused to comply with the unreasonable police demands. As a result, someone reported her to police before the Beijing Olympics and she lost her job. Ms. Zhang was so frightened that she no longer dared to greet practitioners. The police from Shigang Street Police Station arrested her soon after, and threatened her.

In order to create Olympics fear and a false peace, every police station was allocated an arrest quota. The quota decided the bonuses. So, officers would rather wrongly arrest someone, so they wouldn't miss anyone. Officers from local police stations and staff from local government offices ordered police, staff from the resident committees, building supervisors, gate guards and security people to spy on, monitor and control all practitioners, or anyone who might appeal for justice. A grand sporting event for promoting China's human rights was turned into a bloody persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The desire was to present a false peace. They didn't care if they trampled on freedom of belief and speech. They suppressed people's basic human rights, and as a result, countless happy families were torn apart.

In China, after the CCP usurped power, movements and tragedies that entailed the slaughter of innocent people and the persecution of good people went on for years. This should stop now!
