Ms. Chen Xiuling, over 50, the mother of Chen Ying, who was the first Falun Gong practitioner in Jiamusi to be killed in the persecution, lived in a rental unit at the Youth Apartment Complex, Building No. Four at Guangfu E. They confiscated Falun Gong books and CDs, materials about the persecution, a new TV, a DVD player, over 1,000 yuan1, a household registration booklet, an ID card, a payroll card, and a bank savings book. This policemen ordered the landlord to terminate Ms. Chen Xiuling's lease on the apartment.

The police confiscated Falun Gong books, her children's computer and over 1,000 "yuan." Later, police extorted over 50,000 yuan from her family members before releasing Ms. Cai. However, on July 24th, 2008, just 20 days after her release, Ms. Cai was again arrested by police from the Jiadong Police Station while she was at her son's salon.

On the morning of July 30th, 2008, practitioners Ms. Wang Guizhen, Ms. Fan Shujuan and Ms. Sun Hongwei, were arrested by police from the Jiaxi Police Station because they had told many people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The police also ransacked their homes. Later, their family members went to the police station and asked for the release of these practitioners. The police refused to release them and they used the excuse that the arrests were necessary for the "security of the Olympic Games."
