In My 60s I Learned How to Operate a Computer to Help People Know the Truth

I am nearly seventy years old, and I am not a technical person, let alone a computer expert. But I have seen the need to pass information from the Internet to people in China to let them know what is going on with the persecution. Therefore, I told my son, "Please go and buy a computer for me." My son kept asking, "Mom, are you sure you want to learn how to use a computer? Are you kidding? If I buy a computer for you but you cannot learn it, I won't be able to sell it." I said I was sure that I needed a computer. My son said, "Let me call my sister and have a discussion with her." My daughter came and said, "You cannot learn it. People all say that I am smart, but it has taken me several months to learn just some basics." My son said, "I took a computer class for three months, but I still could not use it well. You are almost 70 years old!"

What they said really made me hesitate. I said to myself that my brain didn't cope well with "technology". I never used a computer before and knew nothing about computers. Also, I was so old now, what would I do if I could not learn it in the end? I asked this question to a practitioner named Jia, who was good with computers, and she said, "Don't worry. I can teach you and buy a computer for you." She quickly bought a computer for me and prepared the accessories for it, which I greatly appreciated.

After the preparation was completed, the second step was for me to learn how to use it. Practitioner Jia started the computer and showed me the steps. The mouse quickly moved back and forth on the computer screen, and I could not follow it. It would've been a little easier if all the words were in Chinese, but some of the words were in English. I felt bad when I saw all this and felt that I could not understand anything. I said to myself that teaching me such technology was like talking to a wall. I gave up hope very quickly.

After practitioner Jia finished the demonstration, she looked up and asked me, "You should have a rough idea now, right?" I said hesitantly, "I didn't look at it and my mind was distracted. I could not learn it. Please don't waste your time any more." She looked at me and said, "If you didn't look at it, how do you know if you can learn it? There is nothing that Dafa practitioners cannot learn." Then she said to me patiently, "Let me try and see if I can find someone to help change the English words on the computer to Chinese words, then it may be easier for you to remember it."

Though I didn't have the background or confidence, my fellow practitioner had such strong determination, and she had spent so much precious time on me. Her attitude once again touched me. Reflecting on my children's words and seeing the compassion and patience of practitioner Jia, especially thinking about the standard of Dafa practitioners, I faced a dilemma. At this time, I faced Master's picture and put my hands together, and I said, "Master, your disciple is having trouble learning this, and I feel discouraged and don't want to learn it any more. I am not really acting like Master's disciple. I know that Master doesn't want such a disciple. I am determined to learn it now and hope Master can help open up my wisdom." Thus, I started to learn again. Practitioner Jia taught me again from scratch, step by step. She wrote down the details, step by step, in a notebook.

After she left, I studied Master Li's "Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference". Master said,

"Have righteous thoughts! However you think something should be handled, just go ahead and do it, and when you run into problems you will naturally know how to solve them. If your righteous thoughts are strong, everything will work out smoothly and it's guaranteed you'll do well."

"Why do I tell you to do things this way? It seems passive, right? But that's not true, because the side of you that's been successfully cultivated knows everything, and no matter how you do it, it will work, and no matter how you do those things you'll be able to do them well. So you just need to have the thought. When you know what to do, just go ahead and do it, and while you do it your wisdom will continually come forth, because at that time the side of you that's been successfully cultivated will fuse together with the side of you here. That's a God, who's omnipotent! So of course a small issue will be resolved in no time, and your wisdom will come forth--it's different then! And if you get stuck Master will give you wisdom. "

After studying this part of the Fa lecture, I tried to rectify my mind and have righteous thoughts and righteous actions. Over and over again, I checked the notebook, and repeatedly clicked and practised countless times. Before I went to sleep in the evening, my hand practised on my body: what was "this" for and what was "that" for, until I became familiar with it and remembered it. Sometimes I went to sleep after 2 a.m. and got up to do the Falun Gong exercises at 3:30 a.m. On the second day, I put down the notebook and practised over and over again. During the whole process, I felt that Master had opened up my wisdom and I had epiphanies, one after another. When I was not sure what to do for one step, I always felt that Master was reminding me "it would be all right to do this"or "it would be OK to do that." My mouse naturally clicked on that spot and I felt much more proficient.

Gradually I got hold of some simple techniques that I wanted to learn. Little by little I could print some materials, new scriptures, and important articles from the Minghui web site, and I would pass them on to other practitioners.

Thanks to the guidance of Dafa, I learned how to use the computer. Master not only gives me wisdom, but also gives me hints all the time to help a person like me use a computer. Thank you Master for your support! Thank you my fellow practitioners for your assistance!

My level is limited. If there is anything inappropriate, I hope that practitioners could kindly point it out to me.
