At around 10:00 a.m. on June 12th, 2008, a hearing for practitioner Ms. Li Jinlian's case was held in the Honggang Court in Daqing City. The police brought Ms. Li to the court building through the back door. Several criminals were brought in along with her. They wore the prison vests while Ms. Li was in a blue sports suit.

Ms. Li was locked in a small room while waiting for the hearing to start. After about ten minutes, officers took her and the criminals to the toilets.

When the trial started, four criminal cases were heard first. When it was Ms. Li's turn, she remained calm, and when she was asked what crime she had committed, she replied loudly, "I am innocent." The court then proceeded to list the items that were confiscated from her home. Afterwards, they asked her if she had been detained three times. She replied firmly, "The crimes were imposed on me. I appealed to the government legally but was detained. Is it wrong to be a good person? People should have the right to speak." The court interrupted her and told her she would have a chance to speak during the deliberation.

During the deliberation, Ms. Li exposed how she was persecuted. She said that on the second day of her detention, officers from the Babaixiang Police Department sealed her mouth with tape and beat her. They wiped mustard oil on her and she lost consciousness. She was sent to emergency for treatment, then woke up. The court asked her, "Do you have any proof?" (Note: the normal procedure is that the court should investigate the situation according to the victim's statement.)

Regarding the indictment on her possession of Falun Gong materials, she said, "I am innocent. Those materials are for informing people about the persecution of Falun Gong and dispelling the state propaganda attacking the practice. The government won't allow us to speak out so we have to use these materials to tell people the truth, advise them to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliates, and tell them that Falun Gong is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance is good."

Regarding the indictment on her satellite TV installation, to watch New Tang Dynasty Television, [NTDTV, a TV company that broadcasts programmes exposing the persecution of Falun Gong.] Ms. Li said, "Other people can watch, why shouldn't I? I got to know the truth about many things through NTDTV. The death toll from the southern winter storm was not reported truthfully by the government, but NTDTV told the truth. Falun Gong has spread to over 80 countries around the world, other countries all support it, so why does only the CCP persecute Falun Gong?" The court officials could not say a word.

After the trial was over, Ms. Li was asked to sign a paper. She wrote, "Falun Gong is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance is good." The officials scoffed at her and treated her like a fool.

Ms. Li Jinlian is a practitioner from the Babaixiang area of Daqing City. At around 8:00 a.m. on March 6th, 2008, when she was at work, Chen Yanning, the party secretary of her workplace, asked her to come to his office. When she entered the room, several police officers rushed to handcuff and shackle her. She was then carried to a police car. After her arrest, she was detained in the Daqing City Detention Centre and her family members were not allowed to visit her. Her family requested visitation several times but the police department officials refused, giving the excuse that they were not in charge of her case.

Ms. Li's daughter is 15 years old and lost her father when she was little. Her mother is her only hope. During the past nine years of the persecution of Falun Gong, she has witnessed and remembers the CCP's persecution of her mother.
