Tortures in Jiangxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp

For many years, the Jiangxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp has been notorious for its persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The following article exposes the crimes in the camp with the intention to arouse public awareness of the cruelty of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

1. Hanging by Handcuffs, Beating, "Military Training"

Guards use "hanging by handcuffs" to torture practitioners who refuse to renounce their belief in Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance. The guards handcuff the practitioner's hands separately, then raise the hanging handcuffs until the practitioner's feet are dangling. They tape the practitioner's mouth shut when the practitioner protests the torture.

"Military training" is a general torture used against practitioners. The guards force the victim to stand straight and still, and look forward for half a day to a full day. If the victim does not obey, the guards beat the victim, curse the victim, grab the victim's hair, press the victim against the ground and beat her. Every practitioner in the camp, regardless of whether she is young or old, is subjected to "military training". Practitioners who refuse to do forced labour are subjected to beating and "military training" without exception.

2. "Personal Monitors"

Using criminals as "personal monitors" to restrict practitioners is a cruel "management" technique used in the forced labour camp. Ninety percent of the prisoners are drug addicts. The guards use them to monitor and restrict practitioners. Two drug addicts monitor one practitioner 24 hours a day. The "personal monitors" are supposed to follow regulations. But in practice, the guards give them the right to torment practitioners and use the abuse as a way to "transform1" the practitioners. The guards instigate the monitors' wickedness and reward them with points for "transforming" a practitioner. The points are then used to reduce their prison term. With this incentive, the personal monitors dare to do anything towards practitioners, such as punch and kick them, beat them with wire clothes hangers, curse and throw garbage at the practitioner's head, body, or bed, pour urine in the practitioner's water cup or water barrel, eat the practitioner's food, take the practitioner's personal items for themselves, etc. When the practitioner reports the violation to the guards, even though the guards know the truth, the guards side with the monitors, and either ignore the report or taunt: "If you can not endure the suffering, then transform." Practitioner Ms. Zhang Yuzheng was imprisoned for an additional three years in the forced labour camp after she finished her six-year prison term, just because she was not "transformed." Ms. Zhang's hands are paralyzed after enduring long hours of "hanging by handcuffs" in the prison. Hence she was unable to make good products after she was transferred to the forced labour camp. The guards hysterically insulted her, calling her gluttonous and lazy, eating without earning, an "excrement maker", and so on.

3. Discrimination and Maltreatment

The practitioners who are not "transformed" suffer many other forms of discrimination and abuse. For example, the practitioners are the only ones required to clean the toilets. In summer, the practitioners cannot use fans while other inmates can. A practitioner is locked in a 75 square foot cell with her two monitors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In the cell, she eats, sleeps, uses the toilet, does forced labour, and never has a break. She only has 15 minutes a day to get water, clean the chamberpot, and wash her clothes. The practitioner's prison term is extended at least five days for every month that she does not "transform." Practitioners on hunger strike are tied to a bed. Their limbs are strapped down day and night, and no exception is made when they need to use the toilet. Practitioners who do not "transform" are jailed in small isolation cells for years.

It has been nine years since Jiang's regime began persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in 1999. The Jiangxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp plays an evil role in the persecution. Many practitioners have died or had mental breakdowns as a result of the torture there. The persecution and torture are still happening, but as a result of the information blockade, more of these heinous crimes have not yet been revealed.
