At 3 p.m. on June 15th, 2008, Baqi Township Police Station Chief Fu Wenzhong in Shulan City, Jilin Province, and three others barged into the residence of Mr. Jiang Yihong, a Falun Gong practitioner. They did not show him any identification, and during their search they did not find any Falun Gong materials. They did not give any reason for breaking into his home, and then they took him away. Because of the intervention of Jiang's family members, Jiang managed to escape. However, his mother, Tan Yuling, a 68-year old practitioner, was forcefully taken away.
At 6 p.m. Fu Wenzhong and a dozen thugs, seven of whom were from the police station and the others from the Shulan City Criminal Police Team, came in three police cars to break into Mr. Jiang's residence twice. They took away his father, Jiang Yanwen (a non-practitioner), and Jiang's wife, Zhang Hongjuan (also a non-practitioner). The two are still being held in Nanshan Detention Centre in Shulan City. A policemen told them, "If Jiang Yihong turns himself in, then we will release his father and wife." During the first arrest, the police used a pepper spray that irritated people's eyes and caused them to have difficulty breathing. The Jiang family almost suffocated after being sprayed. Mr. Jiang Yanwen's glasses were broken during the assault, and his face was bruised. Ms. Zhang Hongjuan's nose was bleeding.
The eight police officers from Baiqi Township Police Station who participated in these arrests were: Chief Fu Wenzhong; Deputy Chief Man Chuanzhi; Driver Liu Jun; and policemen Jiang Litao, Li Yueliang, Zhang Yu, Zhou Bing, and another policeman in his 50s
It was also heard that on the morning of June 14th, 2008, Fu Wenzhong and three other policemen drove to Shenshu Village's 2nd group and barged into the residence of practitioner Mr. Sun Xicheng. They ransacked the house and found a Falun Gong book. Mr. Sun was arrested and taken to Nanshan Detention Centre. He has still not been released.
