On June, 6th, 2008, more than a dozen police officers from Laishui County arriving in three vehicles harassed many Falun Gong practitioners and ransacked their homes. The officers claimed that they were from Hebei Province, Baoding City and Laishui County.

After entering Ms. Hu Kun's home, some of them went on the roof to remove the satellite receiver, while others searched the cabinets and closets. Some of the officers tore off decorations with inspirational inscriptions. In addition, they took the satellite receiver, a 21-inch TV and other personal items with them.

Finding nobody at home in Ms. Lu Guifen's house, the police officers broke in through the windows. They took away a satellite receiver, Falun Gong books and two toner cartridges. They also took away a DVD player valued at over 1,000 yuan1 from her son's room.

Police officers removed several Falun Gong books from Ms. Wang Hongyan's home. They took away satellite receivers from Ms. Yang Yuxiang and Ms. Zheng Shuping's homes. Police officers also went to Mr. Hu Ping, and Mr. Zhang Qingchun's homes at Shilipu, and Ms. Zhang Yufeng's home at Xinzhuangtou Village but left when they found the doors locked.

In the afternoon, the same police officers went to Ms. Zhang Fengzhi's home at Beizhuang Village, Shiting Town. Falun Gong books were taken away. Police officers said that they would come again a few days later. They even beat and broke the leg of Ms. Zhang Fengzhi's dog.

Police did not show search warrants in any of these cases.

Although it is not easy for Falun Gong practitioners to save money--they are often very poor due to the long-lasting persecution at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)--during the days leading up to these events, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Helin from Wangchun Township had been supporting the victims of the terrible earthquake in Sichuan Province with donations. For some reason, his kind actions were construed as a "crime" by the CCP. They claimed that Mr. Zhang must be a Falun Gong leader because he had donated lots of money. As a result, his home was ransacked by police officers including Dai Chunjie (male) from the Laishui County Police Department. Many more Falun Gong practitioners were harassed in Laishui Town.
