Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Shen Wenjie, previously a pilot at the capital airport, was released from the Beijing Qianjin Prison in December 2006. His previous employer, Air China Co., officers from the Chaoyang District Capital Airport Police Station, and the Beijing Police Department, did not process his residence card and ID, using the excuse that it did not conform to the household register rule. This was the reason why he could not find a job for a long time, and was forced to work odd jobs to make a living.

In April 2008, using the excuse of "preparing for the Olympics," police officers of the China Civil Airline System required that all personnel must go to the police stations where their residence was registered to get a "no criminal record certificate." Mr. Shen Wenjie's employer, Shenzhen City Kun Peng International Flight School, where Mr. Shen temporarily worked, was also involved. Later, police officers from the Wuzhou City Department, from the same area where the flight school is located (in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region), required that all people who work there must supply their ID and temporary residence certificate. They intentionally denied giving Mr. Shen a certificate of temporary residence.

When Mr. Shen came to Wuzhou City in December 2007, the salary for his temporary job was very low. He has now again been forced to leave home to avoid being arrested. Reportedly, police officers are looking for him everywhere.

Mr. Shen Wenjie, a resident of Xingtang County in Hebei Province, entered college in 1995. In 1997, the capital airport recruited pilots at universities in Beijing. Mr. Shen was selected from among the many candidates. Later, because of his excellent flight skills, his employer sent him to America for further training. He excelled and quickly became an excellent pilot.

Mr. Shen Wenjie and his wife-to-be Ms. Dong Cui began practising Falun Gong in 1996. From 1994 to 1999, Ms. Dong was a doctor at the Shunyi District Obstetrics and Gynaecology Hospital. In the second half of 2000, both had to give up their work and leave home to avoid being arrested. In late 2001, because someone reported them when they explained the facts about Falun Gong, they were both arrested and detained at the Beijing Shunyi Detention Centre. Two years later, both were sentenced to five years in prison by the Shunyi District Court.

On the eighth day after Ms. Dong Cui was transferred to the Daxing District Women's Prison, she was brutally tortured to death by Tain Fengqing (female), director of the Third Ward of the women's prison. She died at the age of 28. At that time, Mr. Shen was in prison and did not know anything about Ms. Dong's death. For five years, he was subjected to all kinds of mental and physical tortures. When he left the prison in December 2006, he looked for her, and we can only imagine how sad he was upon learning that his wife-to-be, who he hadn't seen for four years, had been murdered by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
