Denmark: Peaceful Protest against the Persecution of Falun Gong at the Chinese Embassy in Copenhagen

On the eve of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) issued the secret order, under the name of the "Political and Judiciary Committee”, to wantonly arrest Falun Gong practitioners and force them to give up their beliefs, which caused more and more kidnapping and death cases national wide.

In order to protest against the CCP's intensified persecution of Falun Gong practitioners using the Olympic Games as the excuse, Danish Falun Gong practitioners held a rally at the Chinese Embassy to Denmark in Copenhagen to appeal to Danish society to stop the CCP’s human rights violence and the persecution of Falun Gong.

On April 8th, 2008, Danish Falun Gong practitioners assembled at the Chinese Embassy to strongly protest against the CCP's intensified persecution of Falun Gong and appeal to all circles of the Danish society to clearly recognise the CCP’s evil nature, support justice and together constrain the CCP trampling on human rights and the persecution of Falun Gong.

Falun Gong practitioners displayed banners in both English and Chinese reading “Protest against the CCP’s unlawful arrest of Falun Gong practitioners using the Olympic as the excuse” and also distributed flyers to passers-by. The activity lasted about one hour and attracted many passers-by and passing vehicle drivers’ attention; they accepted and read flyers one after another.

According to the report from the Minghui website, on February 19th, 2008, officials at the CCP Political and Judiciary Committee issued a secret order entitled Suggestion on maintaining social stability and ensuring safety during the Olympics. The order was sent to forty provincial level Political and Judiciary Committees and offices that deal with Falun Gong. The order instructed Party officials around the country to concentrate time and manpower to organise specialized activities to investigate and resolve conflicts; enhance management of the activities of foreign reporters coming for the Olympics; enhance the management of the internet and cell phone text messaging. In particular it stressed to meticulously guard and severely strike against Falun Gong. Up to March 11th, 2008, according to incomplete statistics, there were 1878 cases of illegal arrests of Falun Gong practitioners from the end of last year occurring in twenty nine provinces, cities, and autonomous regions in mainland China.
