Germany: “I found the dances to be wonderful and the choreography was perfect”

The second and last Gala Spectacular show by the Divine Performing Arts Company in Duisburg’s Marientor Theatre was performed on Wednesday February 14th, 2008. The audience was very taken by the show that presented art inspired by gods with their perfect dance, music and song performances by fifty male and female artists. The programme was colourful and brought a medley of different acts to the audience. It ranged from Mongolian dances, to drum dances, Tibetan dances and classical Chinese songs to the Erhu a two stringed type bowed stringed instrument.

The group of artists performed in Frankfurt on Saturday and Sunday February 16th and 17th. There were a total of three performances and there were around 6,000 people in the audience.

“I was very captivated by the gracefulness of the ladies and the men. The costumers and the rich colours were adorable. I was highly impressed by the unbelievable discipline, graciousness and daintiness of the dancer’s movements,” said Carmen Thomas, former WDR West German Radio moderator during an interview with NTDTV New Tang Dynasty Television.

“The dances were beautiful and the choreography was perfect. What routines and grace displayed by the dancers! What was conveyed by the dances was actuality strong messages, demanding freedom and justice for the people and I found their compassion something very good.”

Thomas continued, “I also thought that the astounding gracefulness gave a clear picture of the different roles assigned to the artists. It is obvious that the women and men were shown as to their differences, in a sort of gender stereotyping way, which is based on tradition and was actually still like this not so long ago.”

Beautiful costumes and flowing body movements,” said a young couple, a Japanese lady and her German boyfriend. “I’m interested in the Chinese culture and presently am studying the Chinese language. As I am originally from Japan, such type of shows are already known to me,” said the Japanese lady. She continued, “I especially was impressed by the combination of Western and Chinese dance.” Her boyfriend was quite taken with the scene depicting the legend “The Loyalty of Yue Fei.”

“The clarification concerning the dances and the translations for the songs were especially helpful in understanding the content,” said her boyfriend. The couple heard about the Shen Yun show from an insert in the Epoch Times newspaper that also showed photos from the show. The boyfriend continued, “The show was just as we imagined and the atmosphere was very harmonious.”

“I mostly enjoyed the Mongolian dance. It was beautiful,” said Andrea Mueller, a bank employee from Duisburg. Peter Jansen, her husband, who is employed as an administrator, preferred the “Drummers of the Tang Court” scene. Both liked the costumes and the back drops very much.

A man from Iran with a predestined relationship came to see the show on recommendation from a Chinese lady, with whom he had a long and detailed discussion about the meaning and the significance of the Gala. Before the show, he feared, given his health, that he might not be able to see the show. He suffers from rheumatism, heart disease, allergies and other illnesses. After he was told that the good harmonic and pure energy emanated during the Gala affects the health positively, he decided to go and see the show. He was very happy after the show was over. “I was unable to sit more than one hour quietly in one place over the past ten years. During this show, I sat more than two-and one half hour with exception to the short intermission.”
