How I Was Rescued from Multiple Illnesses by Practising Falun Dafa, and Then Tortured in a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Forced Labour Camp

I was an impetuous person with several illnesses, including pleurodynia, neurasthenia, and gout after giving birth. My body was plagued with problems and I had to take several medications daily. Sometimes I could not sleep through the night, and I had additional symptoms, including my hands being sensitive to touching cold water. I was bothered by these illnesses so much that I no longer wanted to live. Since I started practising Falun Gong on November 23rd, 1996, I experienced many benefits, both physical and mental. I became a completely different person; all my illnesses disappeared and I no longer needed any medicine! With a healthy body, I now have a positive attitude about life and a harmonious family relationship with my husband.

Jiang Zemin's [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] group started persecuting Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, and I just could not understand why. Why would they not allow people to practise such beneficial exercises? Why not let people improve themselves by cultivating and following the principles of "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance?" One winter day in 2000, police officer Ding Guang along with six other officers knocked on my door. I invited them in politely and offered them hot water to warm them up. But Ding Guang became angry when he saw Falun Dafa books. He wanted to take them with him. I told them how good Dafa is, how it teaches you to be a good person, and how it changed my life. I was in tears when I talked about Dafa, and asked them not to take any of the Dafa items. I said, "I understand your situation. We have no problem with each other. You are here to follow your orders. But I have really benefited a lot by practising Falun Gong. I was so miserable when I had those illnesses. I can't stop studying and practicsng Dafa. These materials are my life. You can't take them away." Maybe their benevolent sides were awakened, because they did not take anything. But they were afraid I would to Beijing to appeal for justice of Falun Gong. They asked me to write a guarantee statement promising not to go to Beijing, then they left.

One evening in August 2001, those police officers came to my home again. This time they ransacked my home. They took me to the Zhengdong Police Station and interrogated me that night. An officer twisted my arms behind my back, trying to force me to kneel toward them, but I refused. They got nothing from the interrogation. Two policemen guarded me in the same room that night, even though they knew it was illegal. They brought handcuffs and foot shackles. I asked them, "Are you going to put those on a defenceless lady?" They didn't shackle me, but forced me to sit on a sofa. They set up two beds to block the door, one inside and one outside. One policeman slept inside and the other outside. Later I discovered that they stole many Dafa books, tapes, a tape recorder worth 670 yuan1, another tape recorder worth 450 yuan, a 150 yuan tape player, a 30-yuan bag, and a 10-yuan flashlight. There might be other things missing that I am not aware of.

The next day they took me to a detention centre for criminal detention. I held a hunger strike to protest their actions. On the fifth day, they thought that I was about to die, so I was taken to the town hospital for treatment. I was released to go home the next day after they extorted three hundred yuan as a medical payment and three hundred more for food (although I did not eat anything) from my husband.

The next evening, they arrested me again at my home and took me to the detention centre. They read the "decision" to me the following morning: A sentence for two years of forced labour for "disrupting the social order." How could I have disrupted the social order by staying at home? They took me to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province without even notifying my family.

I tried to be a good person by following the principles of "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance." The people around me have said that I am a good person, yet these police officers were arresting and persecuting me! I was tortured badly while at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp and released in late August 2003.
