Since September 20th, 2007, a large group of Falun Gong practitioners have been arrested from other regions and were taken to the Masanjia Women's Second Forced Labour Camp, Liaoning Province. This group includes 11 practitioners from Dalian City and 15 practitioners who were transferred from the Distribution Ward of Beijing City Labour Camp. They were taken to the labour camp one after another. There are now over 100 practitioners at the Masanjia Women's Second Forced Labour Camp. Previously there were 50 to 60 practitioners detained there.

Some Falun Gong practitioners that the authorities considered key targets were transferred from the general wards to the Masanjia Women's Second Forced Labour Camp. The Supervisor and Education Section organised over 20 people living at the Masanjia Women's Second Forced Labour Camp to take charge of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners including Leader Ma (first name unknown, gender unknown). Previously in 2005 and 2006 these people brutally mistreated Falun Gong practitioners.

There are two groups of "general wards" at the Masanjia Women's Second Forced Labour Camp. There is the First Ward and the Second Ward. The majority of Falun Gong practitioners are held in the Third Ward. There are a few Falun Gong practitioners assigned to the general ward who are made to do sewing work. They are forced to get up at 5:00 a.m. and are not allowed to finish working until after 11:00 p.m., without being allowed a rest at noon. They only get to eat carrot and cabbage soup. It is also very expensive to buy anything there. The practitioners have to spend their own money to buy necessities, like gloves and aprons, that are needed for working in the labour camp.

Guards use extremely cruel means to force the newly arrived Falun Gong practitioners to write the three statements1. The head of the guards, Wang Xiaofeng (female) enforces this action. Falun Gong practitioners are detained in locked cells where the doors and windows are covered with newspapers. Wardens can be found sitting in the corridor and the only thing they can hear are the screams of Falun Gong practitioners being tortured.

After the practitioners are forced to write the "three statements," they are made to work as slaves. The work load is extremely heavy and they are not allowed to sleep until they finish.

Those who refuse to write the "three statements" are closely watched 24 hours a day by the wardens. They are also forced to work. If they do not finish, they are also not allowed to rest. These practitioners are not allowed to speak, leave the room or make any phone calls.

It has been reported that the products from Masanjia Labour Camp will all be exported. There are more than 200 people at the Masanjia Women's Second Labour Camp who are forced to work like slaves. Each year, they earn 200,000 yuan2 for the labour camp.

Note

1. "Three Statements": Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write "Repentance Statement," "Guarantee Statement" or 'Dissociation Statement" as proof that they have given up their belief. In the statement, the practitioner is forced to admit remorse for practising Falun Gong, promise to give up Falun Gong, and never again associate with other practitioners or go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.

2. "Yuan" is the Chinese currency; 500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China.
