Ms. Song Lianying, a practitioner from Huanggang, went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was brutally beaten by police officers at Tiananmen Square on January 1st, 2001. She was later imprisoned for three months at a detention centre in Huanggang and later sentenced to one year in a forced labour camp. Afterwards, she was sent to the Shizishan "Drug Rehabilitation Centre." Although the guards brutally beat her with three electric batons, Ms. Song refused to obey their unjust commands. She was then sent to the Shayang Forced Labour Camp in Hubei Province, where she was beaten again with electric batons. Her hands and mouth were swollen and blistered as a result of the cruel torture.
