On Saturday, June 16th, 2007, Austrian Falun Gong practitioners organised an information day in Vienna. For about six months, this information day has been organised once a month at the U4 Metro Station Kettenbrueckengasse. This is the location where Vienna’s unofficial Chinatown is located. Many local Chinese and Chinese people from other cities can be found on Saturdays in that area, shopping in the nearby Asian stores and Vienna’s largest outdoor market, the Naschmarkt. Practitioners gave out leaflets about the persecution of Falun Gong, collected signatures to protest against the torture and illegal organ harvesting and informed the Chinese people of the importance of quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) there. In addition, this time practitioners also demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises.

One of the practitioners shared that he could feel a strong energy field, much stronger than he usually felt when doing the exercises. While doing the exercises, many people stopped moving and watched with great interest. They also took time to read the banners.

One young man passed by one of the practitioners. She held out a flyer. He shook his head and was ready to move on. The practitioner asked politely if he realised what is going on here. He stopped and said, “No”. She told him about the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist regime and about the positive impact of the exercises. The young man was listened carefully. Afterwards he said that he had not heard about this before and that he found this very interesting. He also said that he wanted to join the exercise group in Vienna. This experience was a wake up call for the practitioner. She understood that she could not give up and had to try again and again to hold a conversation with people, so she could explain much better the truth of the persecution.
