Wolfsburg News: Visit of Jiang Zemin and Four of his Prime Ministers

“State of Emergency” in Wolfsburg

April 6, 2002

By Daniel Puskepeleitis and Carsten Krebs

This coming Friday, April 12, national and international movers and shakers will take turns “opening and closing doors.” In the morning, China’s President Jiang Zemin, accompanied by Minister Mr. Sigmar Gabriel, member of the SPD (Social Party Germany) will tour the assembly line in the Volkswagen Automobile Works, followed by a tour of this automobile city and finally end up at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

A few hours later, the “young wild ones” of CDU-elite (CDU = Christian Democratic Union, a German party) will arrive accompanied by Hessian Minister Mr. Roland Koch, Minister Mr. Peter Mueller from the Saarland, Hamburg’s Lord Mayor Mr. Ole von Beust and the lower Saxony candidate for the union, Mr. Christian Wulff. They all will participate in a conference to work toward raising the standard of living for middle class people in lower Saxony.

This conference will likewise take place in Wolfsburg and also at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. An auto works employee who requested anonymity, remarked that a “State of Emergency” would be declared all around the automobile factory. Security arrangements, especially during Jinang Zemin’s visit, “supercede anything seen before.” One reason: The planned protest of followers of the Falun Gong group who have announced their protest activities fro Friday. They want to follow the motto of the IGFM (International Association for Human Rights), which said, “Berlin wears yellow.” Yellow is the calling card of those Chinese whom Jiang Zemin has sentenced to death. As early as Saturday, an event takes place in the Wolfsburg Pedestrian Zone. Ms. Zhang Cui Ying [the well-known painter/artist] will relate experiences during her time in a [Chinese] Forced Labor Camp.
