Facts of the Persecution of Ms. Peng Shuhua from Xinjin County in Sichuan Province

Ms. Peng Shuhua, a practitioner from Xinjin County, Sichuan Province, has been arrested, imprisoned, tortured, and has had money extorted from her because of her solid belief in Falun Dafa.

Ms. Peng Shuhua is 66 years old was arrested on September 30th, 1999. She was imprisoned for a month in the County Detention Centre by the county Communist party committee member, Communist political and legal committee member, and the Public Safety Bureau police in order to stop Xinjin County practitioners from going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa.

Peng Shuhua and about 10 other practitioners took a train to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in March 2000. She was arrested by police and taken to the Chengdu liaison office in Beijing where she was badly beaten. Three days later, Xinjin county police returned her to detention for another month. The police extorted 10,000 yuan1 from her.

On June 29th, 2000, Peng Shuhua was taking part in group practice with about 20 practitioners. She was arrested and detained at the Wujin police station for 50 days. The police extorted 5000 yuan from her.

Peng Shuhua went to Beijing alone in mid-December of 2000 to appeal for Falun Dafa. Police arrested her at a Beijing train station and took her to the Chengdu Beijing office. She was searched and 900 yuan in cash was taken from her. The third day she was escorted back to Xinjin County of Sichuan Province. The local police extorted 10,000 yuan from her family.

One month later, police arrested Peng Shuhua and put her in the Detention Centre. She went on a hunger strike against the persecution, but the prison guards force-fed her. Soon enough, she was transferred to the Wujin police station detention centre, then to Wujin district government office for a few days, and then back to the Wujin detention centre. She was detained there for another 8 months before she was released.
