On April 10th, 2007, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Jiang Anming, 69, was arrested for informing people about the persecution of Falun Gong and dispelling the state propaganda attacking the practice. He is being detained in the Yubei Detention Centre, Chongqing City. Due to the mistreatment by police and guards, his health is rapidly deteriorating and his situation is urgent.
Mr. Jiang was the former party secretary of the Office of the United Fronts Department. After he began to practise Falun Dafa in 1996, all his illnesses disappeared and he became very healthy. Since the beginning of the persecution of Falun Dafa on July 20th, 1999, Mr. Jiang was determined in his cultivation and went to Beijing several times to appeal against the persecution. During his detention for going to Beijing in early 2000 to appeal, he was brutally punched and kicked by inmates for seven days under the orders of prison guards. His back was severely damaged and he lost the ability to control his bodily functions. After going to Beijing for the third time in 2000, he was sent to Xishanping Labour Camp for six months. His term was extended for two more months, and he was later sent to the Geleshan Brainwashing Centre before he was released.
On April 10th, 2007, Mr. Jiang went on a spring sightseeing trip to the Yubei Region Conservation Garden with retired workers from the university. He explained the facts about Falun Dafa to a local policeman who reported him. Around 2:00 p.m. that afternoon, he was arrested by police from the Yubei Region, Chongqing City. He has been detained in the Yubei Detention Centre since his arrest. Due to the mistreatment in the detention centre, Mr. Jiang has been affected by high blood pressure, headaches, tightness in the chest, and loss of control of his bodily functions. With instructions from the guards, the inmates did not allow him to urinate, which resulted in the rapid deterioration of his health.
