Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Cui Xin lives in Hulan District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. He was arrested at home on December 22nd, 2006 by state security agents and policemen from Hulan District Police Department. He was recently sentenced to seven years in prison after being detained for four months. His case was apparently handled by the Hulan District Court. The Harbin City Middle Court judge determined the sentence.

The Harbin City Police Department and 610 Office1 directly ordered the arrest of Mr. Cui Xin. Police officers took away his printer and several hundred copies of leaflets exposing the persecution, which were used as so-called "evidence" to sentence him to prison.

Mr. Cui was detained in the backyard of Harbin City Police Hospital, and deprived of visiting rights. The processing of his case, including his court session, was conducted secretly, except for the arrest warrant being sent to his family. His family called several days ago, and the Hulan District Court told them that he had been sentenced to seven years in prison five days earlier.

Mr. Cui's family has not seen him once in the past four months. His family wishes to hire a lawyer to appeal his sentence, but a legal worker told them that even if they appealed, the decision would still end up with the Harbin City Middle Court, and they would uphold the original sentence.

1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
