Bright and pretty young Yu Jiahui is the daughter of practitioners in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. Jiahui was born in April 1999, the year in which the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong. The persecution has lasted for eight years, and Jiahui is eight years old.

During her young life Jiaohui has experienced poverty and homelessness due to the persecution. Jiahui has not seen her father for a long time. Her father, Mr. Yu Zuojia, cannot come home because he has to avoid the harassment of the Dalian Education Centre. Recently her mother Ms. Zhou Meihua was arrested by Gao Tiansheng and other policemen from Xiuyue Street Police Station when she was informing people about the true nature of Falun Gong on Xiuyue Street. Without the care of her parents, little Jiahui is depressed and feeling hurt. She often sighs like an adult. This was not the first time that Jiahui was forced to be separated from her mother. Zhao Meihua has been arrested four times.

The first time was on October 6th, 2000 when Ms. Zhao Meihui, her husband Mr. Yu Zuojia, and her brother Zhou Changxu tried to go to Beijing to speak out for justice to the authorities. However, they were stopped at Dalian Harbour by the local police. Later they were sent to the Dalian Rehabilitation Centre (for drug addiction) and detained there for 15 days by policemen from the Fujiazhuang Police Station, and then another 15 days at the Yaojia Detention Centre. Yu Zuojia was sentenced to two years' imprisonment at the Dalian Forced Labour Camp.

The second time Ms. Zhou was detained was during the Chinese New Year of 2001. Zhou Meihua tried to go to Beijing to appeal but was arrested on the way there by the police, and detained at the Yaojia Detention Centre for 15 days.

The third time was on May 17th, 2002. After her husband Mr. Yu Zuojia escaped from the forced labour camp, policemen Bai Yunhai, Jiang Zuolai and others from Fujiazhuang Police Station arrested Zhou Meihua when she was at the hospital taking care of her father, who suffered from dementia. She did not even have the chance to put on her shoes. Their family was extorted of 900 yuan1. Ms. Zhou Meihua went on a hunger strike for over 80 days to protest the persecution at the education centre. She was very weak and lost so much weight that her pulse could no longer be detected. The centre was afraid that she would die and that they would be held responsible, so they sent her to the Central Hospital of Dalian City. They dropped her off at the hospital and left, thus her family was able to take her home from the hospital.

The fourth time she was arrested was not long ago - on March 19th of this year. Ms. Zhou Meihua went to Xiuyue Street to tell people of the persecution suffered by her family and by others whom she knows. Gao Tiansheng and other policemen from Xiuyue Street Police Station arrested her. She was beaten at the police station because she refused to give her name and fingerprints to the police. Without informing the family, the police sent Zhou Meihua to the Yaojia Detention Centre for criminal detention at around three o'clock in the afternoon on March 20th.

Mr. Zhou Changxu, the younger brother of Ms. Zhou Meihua, has also been persecuted. He was detained for over a month at the Yaojia Detention Centre after being arrested on his way to Beijing to appeal on October 6th, 2000. At around ten o'clock one evening in July 2001, he was arrested in front of his father's bed in the hospital by Chen Xin and others from the State Security Group. They tortured him by burning his skin with cigarette butts, feeding him with urine, and whipping him with belts. The family was extorted of 3,200 yuan for his release. Because the police constantly harassed him at home, Mr. Zhou Changxu was forced into homelessness.

During the past few years, the Dalian Education Centre, the State Security Group, and the police station searched Zhou's home and harassed them many times. Already exhausted from taking care of her husband who has dementia, the 60 year old grandma also has to look after little Jiahui now.

Another happy family has been destroyed by the CCP's persecution. Upon seeing her grandma's worry and hard work, Jiahui does not cry when her grandma is around, to avoid putting an extra burden on her, although she misses her parents a lot. Jiahui has learned to take care of herself in spite of her young age. Once there was no hot water for the shower and Jiahui had to use cold water. Her lips became purple from the cold. Her grandma felt so sorry for her, but couldn't do anything but hold her in her arms crying. Little Jiahui could not understand why her mum, a kind person, was arrested and sent to prison, and why her dad and uncle, who want to be good people, are persecuted. However, she believes that Dafa, which teaches people "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," is good, that that telling people that kindness and evil will be rewarded accordingly is not wrong, and that those who persecute good people and poison others are bad people.

We hope that Jiahui's family can be reunited soon, and that people with conscience will help to stop the persecution and Jiahui's sufferings.
