On March 25, Interfaith International, an NGO (non-governmental organisation), sponsored a special 2-hour panel discussion on the "Philosophy of Falun Gong" at the 58th Session of the Commission on Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland. Les Graves, the Secretary-General of Interfaith International invited three Falun Gong practitioners, who are all Ph.D.s, to explain the philosophical aspects of Falun Dafa.

The first speaker was Dr. Shiyu Zhou, professor of Computer Science at University of Pennsylvania. He gave an introduction to the principles of Falun Dafa in the context of China's history and traditional culture. Next, he spoke about the history of Falun Gong and how it spread so widely in China and the rest of the world.

The next speaker was Dr. Alexis Genin, Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Paris, France. He shared with the audience his views on Falun Gong from a westerner's perspective. Dr. Genin talked about his experience with Falun Gong and how it has greatly improved his life. He said that as a scientist, he was very sceptical about "spiritual practices," but after practising Falun Gong for a month, he found that he could objectively and scientifically validate the positive effects that it was having on his life.

The final speaker was Dr. Lili Feng, professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Feng presented her current research findings that show why Falun Gong practitioners experience such profound health benefits. One of her most striking discoveries was that the cells of Falun Gong practitioners can live up to fives times longer than normal human cells. Dr. Feng then showed genetic evidence that proves that living by the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" leads to improved health.

After the statements from the guest speakers the floor was opened for questions from the audience. Although the focus of the forum was supposed to be limited to just the philosophy of Falun Gong and not on the government's persecution, one of the first questions from the audience was from a woman who couldn't understand why the Chinese Government would do such horrible acts. The audience then asked several other questions about the principles of Falun Dafa.
