Exposing the Persecution Carried Out by Jixian County Police in Heilongjiang Province

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner from Jixian County in Heilongjiang Province. I began Falun Dafa study in 2001, after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. Dafa cultivation made me understand that the purpose of life is to find one's way to one's origin. When the CCP television programmes repeatedly played the “Tiananmen self-immolation1” footage, I knew that they were framing Falun Gong. I was angry and determined to tell people the facts about Falun Gong.

Only four days after I began Dafa cultivation, I informed a young local policeman about the true nature of Falun Gong in front of a police station. Due to my then limited understanding of Dafa, with an aggressive mindset and a lack of grace, I did things poorly. I was arrested and detained at the police station. Policemen there ordered me to point out Dafa practitioners from a group of people, but I did not cooperate with them. As a result, the police grabbed my hair and slammed my head into a wall. They later sent me to a detention centre, where I was locked up with criminals. However, I still firmly believed in Dafa. From that moment on I was even more determined in my cultivation. I left the detention centre fifteen days later.

In summer 2002, police broke into my home and attempted to force me to give up Falun Gong, and to be photographed and fingerprinted. I refused to cooperate. Several police agents carried me into a car and took me to the Hedong Police Station. Officer Wang Yawen and others beat me, stepped on my feet with the heels of their shoes and jabbed me in the back with their elbows. They took me home after taking my fingerprints by force and making me sign my name. Since then, the local police have constantly hounded me with unexpected visits and home searches.

On December 30th, 2003, the county police department political head Geng Zhendong arrived at my home, accompanied by many other police officers. He arrested me, because someone had reported that I was still practising Falun Gong. I was forcibly sent to the Hedong Police Station and beaten there. Later on they transferred me to the County Police Department, where the beatings continued. They attempted to force me to give up Falun Gong and to provide names of other Dafa practitioners. I refused and was beaten even more.

I was eventually taken to a detention centre. Since I did not cooperate, Geng Zhendong put me in heavy shackles that are used to punish criminals. I was called to his office daily. He subjected me to verbal abuse and defamed Dafa. I reasoned with him. In order to resist the persecution in the detention centre, other Dafa practitioners and I went on a protest hunger strike and demanded our unconditional release.

One day Geng Zhendong walked by my cell while I was knocking on the door, asking for them to release me. He accused me of an escape attempt. As a result, I was further punished by having to carry a metal door on my back for several days. After days of physical torture in addition to the hungry strike, I was very weak and in great pain. The police did not give up. I was handcuffed again to a metal door, with my toes barely touching the ground, and gagged with a dirty rag. I was deprived of sleep and was also force-fed.

In February 2004, because of their unsuccessful “reform2” attempts, Geng Zhendong sent me to Suihua Forced Labour Camp for further persecution. Police at the labour camp lied to me and said that the camp environment was better than the detention centre. I made a wrong decision and thought about staying there.

First, they forced those “collaborators3,” who had turned against Dafa, to instill me with their crooked understandings of Falun Gong. I was forced to watch TV programmes that slandered Dafa, and I was forced to work. After failing to “reform” me, they tortured me by having me sit on a wooden stool for a long time without changing positions or sleeping. Otherwise, I would be beaten.

My buttocks hurt and became numb from the prolonged sitting. The muscles were atrophying, which made my feet hurt or feel numb from time to time. The many tortures confused my mind, and I became afraid and weak, and was frequently exhausted. Those memories still haunt me now, and I am in pain sometimes. Currently I am still homeless due to the persecution.

Note

1. The "Tiananmen Self-Immolation" [an incident on Tiananmen Square in January 2001 whereby four people set themselves alight and the Chinese Communist claimed they were Falun Gong practitioners, yet there was video evidence to strongly disprove this claim]

2. "Reform or Transform" Implementation of brainwashing and torture in order to force a practitioner to renounce Falun Gong. (Variations: "reform", "transform", "reformed", "reforming", "transformed", "transforming", and "transformation")

3. "Collaborators": Former practitioners who have turned against Falun Gong under brainwashing and torture. They are then made to assist in brainwashing and torturing practitioners.
