On January 25th, 2007, some Danish Falun Gong practitioners gathered at the Singapore Embassy in Copenhagen and presented a letter from the Danish Falun Gong Association to the Singaporean Ambassador to Denmark, Arne Simonsen, to protest against the trial of six Falun Gong practitioners who are being prosecuted on the charge of assembly without a permit. They urgently called on the Singaporean government to revoke the illegal accusations against these six Falun Gong practitioners and not to help the Chinese communist regime persecute Falun Gong.

Danish Falun Gong practitioners urged the Singaporean authorities not to help the Chinese communist regime persecute Falun Gong

These six Falun Gong practitioners were unreasonably accused by the Singaporean police on a charge of assembly without permit as they distributed flyers in downtown Singapore to expose the facts about the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong and support Chinese people withdrawing from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organisations. The trial was first scheduled to be held on January 22nd, 2007, at Court room number thirty-five, which is the smallest one with only eight seats. The court did not allow any others including their relatives, friends and journalists to be present at the court, with the excuse that there were too few seats. With these six practitioners’ protest and the help from other practitioners around the world, the covert trial was postponed to January 24th, two days later than the originally scheduled date and the venue was changed from the small Court room to the more spacious number sixteen Court room.

The Singaporean government often boasted that Singapore is a democratic state, but apparently the legality of this trial and the necessity of having this groundless farce to please the Chinese communist regime are doubtful. The regime also clearly knows what they have done on this case will definitely be criticised by the people around the globe. It is lamentable that Singapore’s leadership, simply for the trivial interest at present, is oppressing its innocent civilians and the six Falun Gong practitioners staging a protest against the persecution. It is a shame in Singapore’s history that the government has not dealt with this case based on justice and conscience.

Some Danish Falun Gong practitioners gathered at the Singaporean Consulate General and displayed photos depicting the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and posters exposing the harvesting of organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. They also displayed a banner reading “Singaporean government: Don’t Help China Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners!”. They read out an open letter to the Singaporean government, calling on the Singaporean authorities to immediately release the Falun Gong practitioners who are being incarcerated illegally. They seriously urged the Singaporean government: “For the future of Singapore’s offspring, please do not follow in the Chinese communist regime’s footsteps or help the despicable regime to persecute Falun Gong.”

The Singaporean Consul of Danish descent had kindly received Falun Gong practitioners a couple of times in the past. But probably because it was shameful for him to see these peaceful and innocent Falun Gong practitioners again, or because Denmark’s respect for human rights and democracy is in stark contrast to his mentality, he shied away from the practitioners when spotting them from the window of his office and instead he asked his secretary to deal with them.

After the secretary to the Consul unwillingly listened to the practitioners’ explanation of their visit and accepted the open letter from them, she promised to refer the practitioners’ requests to the Singaporean authorities.

It is a fact that Falun Gong is being cruelly persecuted by the Chinese communist regime in China, which is known by people from all walks of life and widely reported in the media around the world. Some renowned international human right organisations, such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and various other human rights organisations under the flag of the United Nations, have focused their attention on the persecution of Falun Gong in China and released many articles to condemn the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of human rights. Although Falun Gong has suffered such cruel tribulations, the number of practitioners has been increasing steadily. Currently Falun Gong is popular in over eighty countries around the world. In stark contrast, the leadership of the Singaporean government has failed to acknowledge this historic trend. As a matter of fact, the huge wave of over seventeen million people withdrawing from the CCP and its affiliated organisations has clearly told the people in the entire world that the Chinese communist regime is on the verge of collapse and demonstrated the universal principle; good begets good and evil leads to evil.

Danish Falun Gong practitioners expressed that they hoped the Singaporean authorities are able to stop this illegal suppression and support the innocent Falun Gong practitioners together with other governments and the people in other countries. To be responsible to the nation and its people, the government should uphold justice and support human rights so as to put an end to the Chinese communist regime’s persecution against Falun Gong practitioners as soon as possible.
