On October 26th, 2006, the Beijing National Security Bureau and the Neighbourhood Committee of the Institute of Air Force Equipment collaborated to arrest Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Bai Yufang and ransack her house. Ms. Bai has been detained for over 68 days for "Practising Falun Gong, serving and leading the group," and "distributing flyers of counter-revolutionary propaganda."
Many people know that Ms. Bai practises Falun Gong and that she had many illnesses before she started practising. She could not even stand up and needed to be taken care of at all times. After she started to practise Falun Gong, people witnessed how she got better and better every day. The officials from her former place of employment said, "Why is this medicine jar (a person who always takes medicine) no longer asking for reimbursement for her medical expenses?"
Ms. Bai is now 72 years old. There are five members in her family including her husband, in his eighties. Every day, she gets up early, washes clothes and cooks for her family, and takes care of her husband.
Many neighbours felt the injustice of Ms. Bai being arrested. How could such a nice elderly lady violate the law? They could not understand whose law this kind lady violated.
The authorities said that she showed people "counter-revolutionary propaganda." What is "counter-revolutionary propaganda?" Is it the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party 1? Now, this editorial is everywhere. Among all the Chinese people, there are few who do not know about it. Isn’t it their freedom of speech to talk about it? The Constitution protects freedom of speech. The Communist Party has deteriorated very badly. Is there even one good official from the Party? Why don’t they allow people to talk about it?
Ms. Bai is 72 years old. Can you bear the responsibility if something happened to her? We are all family members, relatives and friends of Ms. Bai. Here, there are 89 people who strongly condemn the Beijing National Security Bureau for ransacking her house, arresting her and especially detaining her. We demand her release unconditionally!
