In front of the Suzhou No. 100 Hospital, Jiangsu Province people often saw a skinny and grey-haired older lady lamenting that her son Mr. Chen Guanghui was persecuted to death. At the time, her son was dying at the Suzhou No. 100 Hospital. His body was swollen beyond recognition due to oedema. The hospital diagnosed him as terminally ill and informed the prison authorities. Prison staff ordered the hospital staff to keep this information secret from the family. Mr. Chen's family asked that he be transferred to another hospital or released so they could bring him home. Prison authorities said, "He can only die in prison."

Forty year-old Nanjing University Graduate, practitioner Mr. Chen Guanghui died on December 12th, 2006. Details of his death are not known. Most likely, his mother is under house arrest and monitored by the Chinese Communist regime police. Mr. Chen's vegetative condition was due to the torture he suffered at the Suzhou Prison in July, 2004. During the last two years of his life he depended on life-support equipment.

Mr. Chen Guanghui was formerly a division manager and the deputy head of the Computer Section of Lianyungang Branch of the People's Construction Bank of China. After he learned Falun Dafa in 1995, he worked even more diligently and always helped others. Therefore, he was in very good repute among his colleagues. After the persecution of Falun Dafa started on July 20th, 1999, Mr. Chen Huiguang was persecuted continuously, simply because he refused to renounce Falun Dafa.

After July 20th, 1999, Mr. Chen Guanghui went to the Jiangsu Provincial government in Nanjing to appeal. He hoped to keep peoples' minds from being poisoned. After he returned to Lianyungang City, he was suspended from his duties and detained in a room at his workplace. He was under constant surveillance. The management at his workplace demanded that he announce on television that he renounced Falun Gong. He refused. In December the same year, the police from the Lianyungang City Police Department arrested Mr. Chen and sentenced him to one and a half years of forced labour.

After Mr. Chen was released from the forced labour camp he found employment at a joint venture computer company. In June, 2001 he was arrested after the Falun Dafa leaflets exposing the persecution processing centre in Beijing had been reported and raided. Mr. Chen was detained at the Lianyungang City Police Department. On June 21st, 2001 Mr. Che escaped while being moved to Nanxiaoqu Police Substation of Xinpu Police Sub-bureau, Lianyungang City, for questioning. He was on the wanted list that was posted throughout the country by the Chinese Public Security Ministry.

According to a notification written by his former workplace, which we obtained after it had passed through many hands, Mr. Chen Guanghui was detained again on September 10th, 2001. One year later, on September 12th, 2001, Mr. Chen was sentenced to an eight-year prison term by the Baixia District Court in Nanjing City, and was imprisoned at Suzhou Prison for further persecution.

Mr. Chen suffered a head injury on July 29th, 2004 and was taken to the Neurosurgery Department of the No. 1 Hospital attached to Suzhou University. He was in a coma and in critical condition. The police did not notify his family until August 4th, 2004. When Mr. Chen's family visited him, he was still under Suzhou Prison guard surveillance. Mr. Chen's family wanted him released for treatment but staff from Suzhou Prison and the Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of Reforming through Labour turned down the request.

Mr. Chen Guanghui had been in a coma for more than two years. He was detained at the Suzhou No. 1 Hospital until his death on December 12th, 2006.

Staff at Suzhou Prison is committing serious crimes. This is a place where generally prisoners with sentences of more than ten years are imprisoned. Alas, the prison guards order the prisoners to monitor and persecute practitioners. On January 4th, 2006, practitioner Mr. Yu Huinan from Suzhou City was tortured to death at that prison.

We hope that international organisations and all those responsible for investigating such crimes investigate the cause of Mr. Chen's death before the trail gets cold.
