Studying the Falun Gong Teachings Should Not Be a Formality

After reading Master's new article, "To the Australia Fa Conference," and through sharing with other (Falun)Dafa practitioners, I have come to further realise the importance of studying the Falun Gong teachings, the Fa. Master has repeatedly asked practitioners in previous lectures to study the Fa more and study the Fa well. This time Master again singled it out in the article. There must still be Dafa practitioners who are not diligently studying the Fa. Regarding my situation, my Fa study was previously a formality. I was somewhat attached to the number of times I studied Zhuan Falun. I thought, "If I read through Zhuan Falun once a week, then I will only read the book four times a month." In comparison to those practitioners who read it over a hundred times, I still have far to go. Later, I realised that this is my attachment. I sometimes felt sleepy when I was reading the Fa. I knew this was interference. Sometimes, my thoughts were in other places and I did not concentrate during my Fa-study. This indicates that my main consciousness did not really study. It was just like finishing a job. Thus, I could not stand on Fa principles when I encountered problems, and I could not improve based on the Fa. This means that I did not truly memorise Master's Fa. Here, I would like to talk about the topic of reciting (memorising) the Fa.

In the past several weeks, "Minghui Weekly" has published many articles detailing the experiences of fellow practitioners memorising the Fa. However, several fellow practitioners that I know do not persist in reciting the Fa. Some stopped after trying only a few pages. Some cannot even memorise Lunyu (in Zhuan Falun). Some wanted to memorise Hong Yin first. They do not treat the daily study of Zhuan Falun as the main task. Master said in "Teaching the Fa at the Fa Conference at the U.S. Capital,"

"Actually, all of the Fa that I've taught is from the one volume of Fa. Take a close look at Zhuan Falun, and [you will see that] all the Fa that I have taught after the book's publication is an explanation of Zhuan Falun. If you don't believe it, you should go and look. Cultivating according to Zhuan Falun will lead you to success in cultivation."

Some older practitioners said, "Every day we are too busy to study the book, study new articles, distribute materials exposing the truth about the persecution, shop for vegetables, cook. We do not have time to memorise the Fa." I feel that these fellow practitioners still have the mentality of fearing the difficulty. If your thoughts are like, "It is over 300 pages, how can I finish it?" The more you think like this, the more the old forces will not allow you to memorise it. You would memorise less and less. Master said in "Teaching the Fa in San Francisco, 2005" (in response to this question from a practitioner, "When I read Zhuan Falun and study the Fa, I can remember [what I'm studying], but once I turn around and become an ordinary person, I forget."),

"You said that you can't remember the Fa that you studied--that's all right. Let's say you don't remember after the first reading and you still don't remember after the second reading, then put your heart into studying and you will definitely make a breakthrough. If you truly give your best and still can't recall it, then it is a test that has been placed in front of you. If that is not the case and your not remembering is caused by not paying enough attention, then the issue at hand is for you to become more diligent."

I hope fellow practitioners all truly make Fa-study a priority. It is only when we remember the Fa, that our cultivation can be directed. Our Fa-study group was formed on November 3rd of this year. We have a weekly group Fa-study where we discuss Fa-study and cultivation. We are striving forward together. We must do the three things well, according to Master's requirements, to fulfil Dafa practitioners' responsibilities.

This is my personal understanding, fellow practitioners please kindly correct any shortcomings.
