Ms. Gu Yeming, a practitioner from the Chaoyang District of Beijing suffered brutal persecution during her detention in a forced labour camp. She showed the symptoms of encephalitis when she was released. She was not able to walk well or speak clearly. She passed away on August 6th, 2006, at the age of 69.

In 1993, Ms. Gu Yeming went through a series of chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer. Later, she learned about Falun Gong through her friends and had an opportunity to attend Teacher's lectures [Teacher Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa]. She regained her health shortly afterwards. She felt very fortunate to be able to practise Dafa and regain her healthy body even though all of her fellow patients from the hospital passed away. Meanwhile, she conducted herself according to the standard of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance"and elevated her mind. In her workplace and neighbourhood, she treated people with kindness and was willing to help others. She was recognised as a really nice person.

After the Jiang Zemin regime and the Chinese Communist Party started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, Ms. Gu went to appeal several times for Falun Gong and validated Falun Dafa with her personal experience. Even in that extremely difficult environment, not only did she persist in her practice, but she also helped other practitioners. In August 2001, since she refused to give up her belief and kept doing work to expose the persecution, her home was searched and she was arrested. She was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour and was sent to labour camp.

Ms. Gu, already over 60 years old at the time, was deprived of sleep and forced to do hard labour. At the same time, she was forced to attend brainwashing sessions and suffered from mental torture. She was sent to a hospital when she showed the symptoms of encephalitis.

When Ms. Gu was sent home, she could not walk steadily or speak clearly, and she responded to things slowly. But she continued to practise and kept studying and doing the exercises. Her health improved, but she was still not able to recover and continued to suffer from mental torments from the torture in the labour camp. Ms. Gu died on August 6th, 2006.
