On July 20th, 2006, Italian Falun Gong practitioners organised various activities to commemorate the 2,920 Chinese practitioners persecuted to death by the Chinese Communist regime and to protest against the cruel persecution of Falun Gong practitioners initiated by Jiang Zemin and the Chinese Communist regime on July 20th, 1999.

Practitioners staged protests at the Chinese Consulates in Milan and Florence, as well as the Chinese Embassy in Rome respectively. Many practitioners travelled from various places, even several hundred kilometers away, to participate in these activities. Practitioners handed out Chinese flyers to expose the atrocities of the Chinese Communist regime’s harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and let the Chinese people know the news that a Milan Criminal Court adjudicated that Jiang Ming, a reporter from the "European Chinese Newspaper", was guilty for slandering Falun Gong.

After participating in the protest at the Chinese Consulates in Florence in the morning, practitioners held activities at the Republic Square in downtown Florence, regardless of the high temperature reaching forty degrees Celsius, to call for an end to the seven year old persecution against Falun Gong practitioners and the Chinese Communist regime’s other atrocities.
