The Police in Beijing Hire Young Unemployed People to Beat Practitioners Who Appeal In Tiananmen Square

[Beijing]

According to inside sources, a few police stations in Beijing hired many unemployed people in their twenties, who have come from other provinces to find work in Beijing, to beat practitioners arrested for appealing in Tiananmen Square. The police station offers room and board and pays each person a salary of about 300 to 500 Yuan monthly. These people subject practitioners to extremely barbarous torture to force them to tell their names and addresses. They stick steel needles into practitioners' hands and feet, beat their hands with bamboo batons and even trample practitioners' fingers and toes with their heavy leather boots, which have steel spikes on the bottom.
