European Friends of Falun Gong received some replies from MEPs, local councillors and Unions condemning the organ harvesting on living Falun Gong practitioners in China conducted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
European Commissioner Ferrero-Waldner replied that the Commission “will investigate the case further”. She also said “I can reassure you that, should these allegations be confirmed, the Commission would urgently address the issue with its Chinese counterpart in the most appropriate manner and in the first place in the framework of the EU-China bilateral dialogue on human rights.”
MEP Evans said “I am writing to confirm that I raised your concerns directly with the Foreign Secretary”, and the Minister for Trade and Foreign Affairs replied that “Should we obtain other information in the future, which substantiates the claims, we will certainly consider raising the issue with the Chinese authorities.”
He continued to say that “Despite the Chinese government assurances that prisoners subject to the death penalty agree to the organ operations voluntarily, we are concerned about the use of such prisoners’ organs.”
An MEP from the UK Independence Party said in his letter that his “UKIP MEP colleagues all abhor the disgraceful practices you describe and will do all they can to try and prevent it and will be giving their support to try and bring these horrific practices to an end.”
The Director from Astra Zeneca PLC said “we deplore all unethical activities including those which are the subject of the allegations referred in your correspondence.”
Many people, from MEPs to Councillors, from Directors to ordinary citizens have signed our petition with condemning statements.
One Councillor wrote on the condemning statement that “ I am not a believer in your religion, but I am opposed to organ harvesting in this way.”
