On April 28th, 2006, practitioners of Pingtung displayed banners and posters at Checheng Township Marina Life Hall to appeal to President Chen Shui-bian, who's attending the opening ceremony of the hall. They hoped that President Chen could help to stop the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

According to the report from Central News Agency on April 27th, Taiwan President Chen Hsui-Bian said that the CCP regime remained quiet for three weeks after the organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners was disclosed. Only after three weeks did its Ministry of Foreign Affairs issue a denial and invite the international community to come to investigate.

He said there is no direct evidence to verify the organ garvesting, but mounting evidence including eyewitness testimonies, have indicated that the number of organ transplants in China is higher than those in other countries. On top of this, there is widespread taking of blood samples from detained Falun Gong practitioners and it is already-known that organs are removed from prisoners that are to be executed in Chinese prisons. These all suggest that organ harvesting is happening.

Because of the facts already available, the president called for charges to be brought against those responsible, and for the CCP to conduct an in-depth investigation, as well as to put the suspects on trial.
