The Chinese Communist Party's Exaggerated Denial

Since the crimes at the concentration camp at Sujiatun was exposed over a month ago, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP ), after a long silence, passed the "Interim Regulation for Human Organ Transplant Practise," then denied its crimes in front of the world. Let's take a closer look at some articles posted on the Internet.

On April 10th, the news website of 163.com published a report entitled "Ministry of Health Disputes Accusation That China Harvests Organs From Death-Row Inmates for Transplants at Will." The report said, "Some overseas media intentionally fabricated the story that the Chinese government harvests organs from criminals on death row for transplants. This is a malicious attempt to slander the judicial system in China." "In actuality, it is very rare to use organs from criminals on death row."

The argument begs the question where the large number of organs being transplanted comes from, if it is in deed "very rare to use organs from criminals on death row." The CCP doesn't have an answer for it, and neither has it ever dared to answer the question.

How many organs are involved in the transplants, then? The CCP does not dare to offer a truthful number, either. But a family member of a transplant patient told the media that at the Eastern Organ Transplant Centre, the highest number of liver and kidney transplants done a day is 24.

Although the CCP does not dare to provide the number of transplants, it just "happened" that on the same page on the website, under "related stories," there was another article entitled, "Mainland China Becomes a New Organ Transplant Centre in the World, Organs Abound." The article was originally published on the China Liver Transplant Web. The original title was, "Report on Foreigners Who Come to China for Organ Transplants." The following are excerpts from the article.

The report opens with a 65-year-old Korean man visiting the First Central Hospital of Tianjin City for a liver transplant. It provides an overview of the trend of foreigners coming to China for organs. It says,

"According to Korean Daily, Korean Organ Transplant Association found through a survey that before 2001, only a few Koreans went to China for organ transplants. Since 2002, this number increased drastically. The General Counsel of the Association, who also works for the Seoul University Hospital, said that the survey was only a 'tip of the iceberg.' The actual numbers may be much higher. An official from a transplant centre in Beijing said, 'In large hospitals in Tianjin, Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou, there are 70 to 80 Korean patients awaiting organ transplant every month. If we add all patients from the medium-sized and small hospitals, about 1,000 Korean patients receive organ transplants every year.' There are also a large number of patients from Japan, India, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United States, and Canada. According to Israeli media, about 30 Israelis go to China for organ transplant every month."

Then how many patients are actually coming from other countries to mainland China for organ transplants? The report says,

"The Koreans who yearn to live are mostly gathered at ...Tianjin First General Hospital Transplant Department, also called Eastern Organ Transplant Centre. This is possibly the world's largest organ transplant center...Besides Koreans, there are also patients from nearly 20 countries and regions such as Japan, Egypt, Pakistan, India, Saudi Arabia, Amman, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan...By the end of 2004, the Eastern Organ Transplant Centre have cumulatively completed 1,500 cases, including nearly 800 kidney transplants and some cornea transplants...A family member of a patient told Phoenix Weekly that the highest number of liver and kidney transplants the transplant centre has done in a day is 24."

Since the CCP has a pattern of fabricating false statistics and changing the facts, it is hard ascertain that the publicly announced transplant numbers included those carried out in secret.

On the donors or the source of the organs, the article says,

"The fourth floor coffee area has become an international gathering place. The family members of patients of different races and background exchange their experiences here. They learnt that the 'donors' are mostly people in their 20s and 30s. Nobody knows their exact identity...When the patients leave the hospital, the hospital provides them with a form with information on the donor, and all of the forms say 'sudden brain aneurysm.' When asked by the Phoenix Weekly about the source of the organs, Director Shen Zhongyang of the Eastern Organ Transplant Centre was ambiguous...The main reason that no empirical research and theoretical discussion paper on organ transplant from Mainland China appeared in any top international medical journals was because that the China-based authors could not provide the source of the donors."

If it is "very rare" to use organs from inmates on death row, then where do the thousands of organs needed for transplants come from? Where are the thousands of Falun Gong practitioners who have been missing over the last seven years? For those doctors who have harvested organs from Falun Gong practitioners, the only way to redeem yourselves is to tell the public what you know, to publicise the crimes you have committed under the control of the CCP, and to assist Dafa practitioners and the people of the world to end this persecution. Perhaps there is still an opportunity now to step forward and atone some of your sins.
