[Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.]

Zhao Chunqiu, columnist for the Daqing Evening News international page, published articles slandering Falun Dafa in his column. He also idolised Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese president. When the fawning biography, The Man Who Changed China: The Life and Legacy of Jiang Zemin was published, Zhao ran a series of short articles promoting the book in the newspaper. These articles misled people and poisoned their minds and resulted in negative opinions toward Falun Dafa, so practitioners repeatably clarified the truth to him and even mailed him materials detailing the facts. He chose to ignore their kindness and did not change his ways, stubbornly regarding Falun Dafa as his enemy. He received karmic retribution for his crimes and died on February 22nd, 2006. Following are the details.

At midnight on February 22nd, 2006, on his way home from work, Zhao Chunqiu was talking to his girlfriend on the phone when two migrant workers who had come to Daqing City for work approached him. When the two muggers tried to take his cell phone and also his money, Zhao Chunqiu fought with them. He sustained 17 knife wounds, five of which penetrated his body. He died in a pool of his own blood at the age of 27. According to the thugs, after they had come up with their plan of action, they didn't approach the first two men they saw because they were afraid, and later they didn't take action against a woman; they then saw Zhao Chunqiu and killed him. This is a validation of the Chinese proverb, "The net of heaven is vast, but the mesh never lets anyone guilty slide through."

After the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20th, 1999, some accomplices of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) followed Jiang's group in the persecution. The Daqing Evening News is very widely read in Daqing City and therefore has a great influence. Despite his young age, the CCP had poisoned Zhao Chunqiu's mind. Many of his articles advocated totalitarianism, violence and dictatorship, which many readers abhorred. More importantly, he used his column to help the CCP slander Falun Gong and created propaganda to justify the persecution. His crimes were grave and he ended up harming others as well as himself!

This incident is a red flag for other people involved in newspaper work. We hope the Daqing Evening News will analyse the facts in an objective and rational manner in its future news reports. Please, distinguish good from evil! Do not believe the CCP's lies and remain deceived any longer. Only by changing your mindsets for the better will you have a good future.
