Ms. Ding Yanhong was a Falun Dafa practitioner and a resident of Mulan County, Heilongjiang Province. Police detained her and took her to forced labour camps many times because of her belief. She passed away as a result of the persecution on February 13th, 2006.

Thirty-seven year old Ms. Ding began to practise Falun Gong in 1995. All her diseases, such as pulmonary tuberculosis and pleurisy, disappeared.

In December 2000, because she refused to write a guarantee statement1, persecutors in Mulan County took her to a brainwashing centre. They also extorted 3,000 yuan2 (the money was borrowed from her friends and relatives) from her and promised to return the money, as long as she did not go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. They did not return the money.

In June 2001, the police ransacked her home after someone reported her distributing leaflets exposing the persecution. The police also sentenced her to 1 year of forced labour. When she was detained in the Tonghe County Detention Centre, the persecutors beat and cursed at her, and they put 40-pound restraints on her for 19 days. When detained in Wanjia Forced Labour Camp, they force-fed her for 7 months. The brutal torture injured her mind and body severely. After she was released, she was sickly and never recovered.

In November 2002, the police arrested Ms. Ding at her home and detained her in the local detention centre. She went on a hunger strike for 9 days to protest the persecution. The persecutors force-fed her.

Around 9:30 a.m. on June 6th, 2005, policemen Wang Zhihua and Liu Jingbo (Mulan County Police) broke into the home of practitioner Ding Yanhong. After harassing her and forcefully taking away Dafa books, they arrested her again. The police threatened Ding and then transferred her to the Mulan County No.2 Detention Centre without legal cause, even though she was extremely weak. Ding went on a hunger strike. Three days later policemen Wang Zhihua and Liu Jingbo notified the family to pick Ding Yanhong up. They extorted 300 yuan from the family, although they are extremely poor. After getting the money, they released Ding Yanhong, who was in bad health.

After that, persecutors from Mulan County 610 Office3, police station and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members living in her community often went to her home to harass and threaten her. As a result, Ms. Ding's physical and mental health was seriously harmed. She became increasingly weaker until she passed away on February 13th, 2006.
